I asked the Scout recruiting guys Dave Telep and Evan Daniels if either Gipson or Diaz had a shot at making their post-summer Top 100 and how early they thought Gipson or Diaz could contribute at KSU, pasted below are their responses:
Daniels:
"Gipson won't be in it. I can't comment on Diaz because I haven't seen him in over year. Telep has though. Gipson is an undersized banger type prospect."
Telep:
"Don't see either of them in our Top 100 at this time. Diaz intrigues me as a prospect and will watch closely this year to see if there's a spike in production and he can get comfortable carrying a team at both ends. Gipson's solid. Not tall but wide. He's a rotation guy in Big 12. "
Then, I caught this positive blurb about Gipson from ESPN's Paul Binacardi, who had high praise for Gip right after he committed to us and appears to be a little higher on Gip than most other national analysts, besides Hardwood Elite of course.
"Biancardi: It wasn't surprising to me that Kansas State commit Thomas Gipson (Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill) played well at the Las Vegas Fab 48, but I was surprised with how effective and efficient he was on the blocks. Around the basket, he displayed strong hands to receive the pass with a soft touch to put it in the basket. The 6-7, 240-pounder knew his role, carved out space with his body, was productive on the glass and finished plays through contact."
