I'm not sure what's not to be excited about with this kid.  You can say that Alvarez is full of crap, fine.  But the fact is Billy Dunnavun has offered and that should say alot...pretty sure Billy's seen the kid play a few times given he's in his back yard.  I personally put some faith in his hs coach saying that ar-t has "it" and refuses to lose.  I want those kids...give me the 3 star that plays his heart out and you can have the 5 star Xavier Henry's that get all the press but couldn't give a crap about winning or losing.

A) Yeah, I don't mind A-R-T
B) There are some rumblings that he may not have a full fledged Florida offer iirc.
C) Xavier Henry was/is very good.  Don't be a tard.

Yeah.  He "has" an offer but if he were to commit, UF wouldn't accept his commitment until they found out what a couple higher priority guards are doing.

Yeah, supposedly UF would only take Angel in the spring and then only if they missed on a couple of other guys.  And Xavier is real rough ridin' good.  You don't get drafted that high unless you are one hell of a player.

They were all very good at whatever level they played before they got drafted.  And are you saying you wouldn't love to have anyone of those guys on the Cats?

I asked the Scout recruiting guys Dave Telep and Evan Daniels if either Gipson or Diaz had a shot at making their post-summer Top 100 and how early they thought Gipson or Diaz could contribute at KSU, pasted below are their responses:

Daniels:
"Gipson won't be in it. I can't comment on Diaz because I haven't seen him in over year. Telep has though. Gipson is an undersized banger type prospect."

Telep:
"Don't see either of them in our Top 100 at this time. Diaz intrigues me as a prospect and will watch closely this year to see if there's a spike in production and he can get comfortable carrying a team at both ends. Gipson's solid. Not tall but wide. He's a rotation guy in Big 12. "

Then, I caught this positive blurb about Gipson from ESPN's Paul Binacardi, who had high praise for Gip right after he committed to us and appears to be a little higher on Gip than most other national analysts, besides Hardwood Elite of course.  :gocho:

"Biancardi: It wasn't surprising to me that Kansas State commit Thomas Gipson (Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill) played well at the Las Vegas Fab 48, but I was surprised with how effective and efficient he was on the blocks. Around the basket, he displayed strong hands to receive the pass with a soft touch to put it in the basket. The 6-7, 240-pounder knew his role, carved out space with his body, was productive on the glass and finished plays through contact."

no, not at all, he's an interior guy all the way.  more like ron anderson.

i'm talking myself into liking Gipson.  a comparison to R Anderson might be selling him short.  he looks like he could be a lot strong than RA while also possessing the same offensive skill set.  also see Gipson working a lot harder and smarter than RA on defense

wouldn't mind seeing a Hoskins-type flex from Gipson after he finishes through some strong contact.

Yeah, sorry to reiterate, but he sounds like a DH type player.  (which isn't a bad thing btw)  David Hoskins was an undersized forward which is exactly what Gipson is.  If Gipson can make open 15 footers and draw some fouls down low he'll be a dece player.  He isn't going to be able to dominate unless he has a GOOD jumpshot.  They'll put 6'9" players on him and lock him down if he isn't able to shoot.

I think he seems similar to Marshall Moses.

no,  hoskins had legit wing skills (minus the j) and athleticism.  he was not a 4.

athletic anderson; short, skinny pittman; moses without the hops; etc.  you can come up with a thousand low post comparos.  as long as you stay in the post.

Remember when I suggested we make Hoskins our full time PG?

But srsly, he had decent guard skills aside from his j.

Moses has hopps?

he was known as pretty bouncy in hs.  may have lost a little in bulking up for the big 12.  or maybe just doesn't get that many in-game opps.
