Very important QB thread (super long and may sting the eyes)
« on: September 20, 2010, 03:08:57 PM »
I thought the whole "Carson will start the season, but not finish it" at QB was a ridiculous argument, because I interpreted it as "Carson is our best QB, and we will later sit our best QB." ….my thinking here being that the best QB should play the whole year, and "the best" QB should start all the games.

I was wrong…I hope.

I am hoping that Bill is starting Carson in the games that he knows that we have a shot of winning while using Carson.  I am hoping that during our stretch of seemingly unwinnable games (that is, unwinnable with Carsy at the controls) he says "eff it, I am going to let Lamur learn on the job and just go out there and Willie Beamish this mother rough rider and maybe some magic happens."

Bill would be in a "can't lose" situation.  We are supposed to win those games.  If Lamur comes out and craps himself, then you go back to Carsy.  What's the worse that could happen?  You "damage" Lamur's psyche?

Nope, you run Lamur out there and shoot the moon.  If it works, then you are ready to make a run at North Texas and claim that (fingers crossed) sixth win and head to NYC.  If it doesn't, you can probably STILL make a run at the sixth win and get to NYC.

Carsy has severed, and will serve a very valuable purpose for us.  Roll Carsy out there against NU and let him take his pounding…mix it up with wildcat and all that.  Then, use Carsy to see if we can win at KU and Baylor…if we can, we have NYC locked up.  THEN, let Lamur take a swing at three games in a row where we will get raped, metaphorically and physically.  If doesn't work, re-install Carsy for the remaining two winnable games.

09/25/10 vs. UCF   = CAN win with Carsy
10/07/10 vs. Nebraska  = can NOT win with Carsy
10/14/10 at Kansas =  CAN win with Carsy
10/23/10 at Baylor  = CAN win with Carsy
10/30/10 vs. Oklahoma State = can NOT win with Carsy
11/06/10 vs. Texas = can NOT win with Carsy
11/13/10 at Missouri  = can NOT win with Carsy
11/20/10 at Colorado = CAN win with Carsy
11/27/10 at North Texas Denton = CAN win with Carsy

I agree with you, however, it won't happen.

FWIW, I think Carsy can beat Oklahoma State.

I could see Ron Prince trying a bold and daring idea like this.  Too bad he's gone.

Like when he threw Freeman into the game against OSU and we won?   :dunno:

Hey, Pete. I guess you think you know more than Coach Snyder? Why don't you just email him this dumbass suggestion. I'm sure he'll take it into consideration.

Why the desire for Lamur?  Why not just go with the wildcat?  Snap to Thomas and have Powell and Wilson in the backfield with him.

Actually, I'd be cool with this as well.....However I am basing my entire argument on th notion that Lamur CAN pass the ball well, he's just too stupid to do it consistently, AND that he CAN run quite well.

I got the point.  But that's a nice effort at poster intimidation.  Keep up the good effort, kiddo.

no pi bro just pointing out that you missd the point, and Lamur has nothing to do with it, if every coach and player for both sides were the same with the exception of Lamur for Freeman then you would have a point, it would still be unrelated to Pete's and _33's but a point nonetheless

BITB, just got on the air and said that unless Bill starts/plays someone else THIS week, then Carsy is the man ALL year.  There you have it...

Now you've lost me.

Here's the recap as I understood it:

Pete: Let's play Lamur!
Me: RP would do some crazy crap like that.
_33: RP did it with Freeman and it worked.
Me: Is Lamur anywhere close to as good as Freeman?  :dunno:
MIR: The point flew over your head.

Did he "have that on good authority from our friends over at GoPowercat.com?"

If Carson tanks he will get yanked.  No way Carson doesn't start/play this week.  But if NU is handing us our ass in the 3rd quarter and Carson hasn't done anything, Bill will pull him.

You compared players, _33 and Pete were talking about situations, its two completely different things, they would never compare Freeman to Lamur it has nothing to do with the point.

We'll just have to disagree.  If Lamur is somewhere around as good as Freeman, then the situations are comparable just as _33 suggested (I think he was joking just like I was).  If Lamur is not close to Freeman's level then the situations are quite different.

Therefore, the comparison of Lamur to Freeman is very relevant to the comparison of the two situations.

Isn't part of the analogy dependent upon the comparo between Carsy versus K2 (see what I did there  :D)

Sadly, it is not Freems/DM in '06 but closer to Webb/DM in '05

I would love to have Allen Webb on this team.

HEY MORON WE ALREADY RUN THE WILDCAT LIKE 10 TIMES A GAME!
