Watched a documentary on the Eastern front in WWII. The Nazis and Soviets would go at it with almost 100 divisions covering a front hundreds of miles wide. Almost all Western front battles took place with 8 divisions or less. The Soviets were made of stern stuff, but they still lost like 26 million people to that war, the west lost something like 4 million.
If you ever get a chance to see any footage of the Kursk campaign, it was like the largest tank battle of all time.
