Letter to the editor
« on: September 15, 2010, 06:17:20 PM »
Dear Sirs:

During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.

While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as "Medicaid"! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.

And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman's health care? I contend that our nation's "health care crisis" is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. Rather, it is the result of a "crisis of culture", a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me".

Once you fix this "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.

Respectfully,

STARNER JONES, MD

shoes are knockoffs bought in a convenience store parking lot, phone is Cricket.

Also not sure why this Doctor is holding the president responsible for Medicaid, unless he expected Obama to repeal it or something.  Props to Jeffy for snopesing this out, though.

Drivers license = suspended
auto insurance = only kept current long enough to get financing
car = brand new, financed by Chrysler
income = welfare, child tax credits
housing = Section 8, rental assistance
utilities = govt. assistance, past due on the remainder
political affiliation = democrat, because loser at govt office or public school said they'd get more sh*t if they voted that way

Cost to the average non-pos person = impossible to calculate, but extraordinary

Libs, stop being so f*cking stupid, resources are not unlimited.  I would think in all your philosophical panderings you'd have come across this fact once or twice.  Even the dolt Obama gets it, hence his "piece of the pie" comment.  I know its hard, but you need to look past the end of your nose.  Here's how you start, when you ask why and someone gives you an answer, ask why again about.  You'd be surprised what you find out.

Hear that ringtone?  That's the sound of luxury.  Paid for by Uncle Sam.

Pretty sure he's just against Medicaid for people rich enough to afford popular R&B ringtones.

Opposed to requiring other people to buy insurance for people who are too f*cking stupid and lazy to get their own

Well, maybe the doctor should just let the patient die. I mean, unless he wants to pay for her entire treatment and not accept the government's money.

SugeD... I appreciate you interpreting Dr. Jones sentiment for us all. If you'll humor me I have some thoughts and questions I'd like to submit to Dr. Jones...

In this country, we believe that people (even stupid and/or lazy ones) are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. Among these rights is life. Unfortunately, due to the extreme and ballooning cost of basic healthcare and Baylor University, we have a very poor system in place to help pay for this basic healthcare. It's come to be know as health insurance.

Does Dr. Jones hate her fellow Americans so much that she is suggesting we, in essence, play god and deny these poor, stupid, lazy, etc... people their natural rights?

What amount of money does she think it takes to makes one smart or non-lazy enough to "qualify" for these unalienable rights?

Which does Dr. Jone's hate more: Laziness, poverty, and stupidity, or our founding fathers and The Declaration of Independance?

dear sirs,

sincerely,

I'm surprised the doctor didn't mention the patient was fat from eating too much fried chicken and pork rinds. I'm also skeptical that Doc Jones could pick out a popular R and/or B song.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Well, they're not exactly public.
