$5K . . . Doug Compton puts that inside new shoes delivered to the ku dressing room every week.

The real money is going to come when they're trying to talk Selby into staying.

Quote
The NCAA tagged a payment initially of $5,757.58 on Selby for impermissible benefits. But Kansas said the true amount is $4,607.58. Self said the discrepancy is because Selby had already repaid the disputed funds and provided the necessary receipts. Self said Kansas will take the money out of Selby’s scholarship check each month and then donate the money to a charity of his choice.

So, let me get this straight.

If you accept $6000, you get a 9 game suspension.  Josh Selby
If you accept $32,000, you are ineligible.  Enes Kanter
If you accept $2000, you miss 4 games.  John Wall (can't remember the exact dollars and games for John Wall but this sounded right in my head)

Seems like the NCAA must be operating off of some sort of matrix, roughly a game per $500-750 (even at $750 per Kanter would miss over 40 games, so the whole year).  Either that or its completely at the NCAA's discretion, which is almost certainly the worst way to run an administrative agency.  Either way Josh Selby gets off easy.  Congrats to uk

Anyone?

I'm pretty sure it's all completely at the NCAA's discretion. What have you ever seen from the NCAA that would suggest they have some sort of system in place to keep their punishments fair?
