New BBall Commit?
« on: July 31, 2010, 10:45:56 PM »
GPC board rumors.  First Wallace mentioned someone, then Cassidy.  Supposedly a new bball commit.  Don't know anything else.

Not new, just new to them...

that's because his name is adrian diaz, not andres diaz.  JFC, anybody who follows KSUBB recruiting with half a brain knows that, but GPC of course fucks it up.

A little bit of info here too.

Quote
An emerging big man in the 2011 class is Adrian Diaz. He is 6-foot-10 with long arms and he really runs the floor well. Diaz doesn't have much of a game outside of five feet, but he finishes above the rim with athleticism, and runs the floor well putting himself in position to make plays. Also Diaz has solid hands. He needs to improve his strength, and be more consistent with his production, but his size and athleticism make him a major prospect.

And here:

Diaz watched by some big teams: Word is getting out even more about 7-foot center Adrian Diaz of Gold Coast with Kansas State's Frank Martin and Florida State assistant Andy Enfield just two of the coaches keeping an eye on Court 2 Wednesday evening.

Diaz, from Hialeah (Fla.) Hialeah-Miami Lakes, was much better Tuesday night than Wednesday but still showed some of the skills that have set him apart in this tournament - good passing from the post, running the floor well in transition and the ability to alter and block shots.

A "boatload of people" are recruiting Diaz, Rodriguez said, including Syracuse, Kansas State, Alabama, Florida International and FAU. There are many other programs that will probably get involved because there aren't many 7-footers like him who can get up and down the court so well.

"I could probably tell you 25 or 30 (colleges)," Rodriguez said. "Who doesn't want a kid who can run and jump like that?"

that's a good sign  :dunno:

IDK,  the gpc article showed his offer list as rather underwhelming at the moment, but said he had interest from Cuse.  If he was hurt most of last year than it's hard to know what to expect.  He could have a big senior year and blow up and be on more people's radars.

i'm torn between benefit of the doubting - basically just because of mitchell and outright anger.  unless diaz is a hell of a lot better than he appears, this is pathetic.

This better not shazbot! up my dream of Harrison/Seagears.  Also, this will probably be the nail in the coffin for Cauley.  Assuming Omari gets a scholly for '11, where does that leave us for next year?  Who are we going to "Gilbert"?

So, basically we just added another Jordan Henriquez.  Interesting.  Why?
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Yeah, because Frank doesn't know what he is doing.  OMFG.  I am pretty sure weight doesn't matter when recruiting when you have the best strength coach in the nation.  Has anyone seen JO lately?  Dude has put on some weight.  What like 20 lbs this summer.  Like CK is huge?

I trust Frank.  We are bitching about a kids weight who projects out to be a high end 4 possibly higher.  I think Frank took a chance on a 6'8 200 lb skinny 3 star kid named Jamar Samuels.  Took a chance on a near wash out 2.3 pts. a game guy at Uconn.  Denis was on his  last leg.  I  think Frank might know what he is doing.  Enjoy the ride.  btw, found an article on Diaz that said Minnesota and Tennessee were trying to get in late on him.

JO's weight increase is a credit to Wyatt and Lon's mental assault on the kid during the Catbacker tour.  Not Greenawalt's doing.
