I think the point here is that as long as Patrick Mahomes plays football, the chiefs will dominate Denver and Indy at a level reminiscent of Nebraska dominating the cats in the 70's and 80's. Everyone on earth agrees with that. The other AFC West teams start every year dreaming about the wildcard, until maybe sometime 15+ years from now.

Is anyone else disappointed with this Chris Jones contract? I am. We don't need to invest in defense. Just keep a revolving door of rooking contract guys and veterans who "want a ring." Jesus. We can be down by over 20 in any given game and it doesn't even matter.

We should be spending all of our money on the offensive line. That's it.

That's fine and I get that. But they invested a lot in the D last year and it improved tremendously. That's why you draft toys for Pat to play with in the 1st round, just like they did this year.

I think the Chiefs see it as an investment for Spags who in one year drastically improved the defense. They are keeping the core guys in Clark, Jones, and Mathieu together for minimum 2 more years (Mathieu's contract expires in 2021).

If Spags can churn out a top 10 defense every year with Mahomes at QB, they are easily Super Bowl favorites...and it's not even close. Chiefs might be going for first ever back to back to back SB Champion streak. Barring major injuries (especially to Mahomes), it is not an unrealistic possibility.

The best QB in the division outside of Mahomes is Carr and he'll potentially be replaced with another lackluster season. Lock looked okay but didn't show anything that makes you think he's special. I think Herbert will suck.

We're talking a decade of divisional ineptitude to match the AFC East but panic drafting WRs to compete makes me think we're on the right track.

Lock looked okay, but I am optimistic. He spent most of the season out with a broken thumb, then came out and went 4-1 with a team that was currently 3-8. Case Keenum-led Broncos were 1 completely garbage QB throw away from beating Mahomes, so it's not like the Chiefs can't be beat with even just average QB play. I also wouldn't say the Broncos were "panic-buying" WRs. They needed a replacement for Sanders, then went and got a potential deep-threat.
