the colts are coming for the chiefs' heads, they are red hot, and i am officially filled with dread.
Define "Red hot". If that's back to back road wins then OK. Remember a Blaine Gabbert Titans team is 6-10 if he plays 16 gms
Colts last 6 regular season games included...
1) being down to Miami 24-14 at home in 4th Q. Miami went 4-9 last 13 games
2) Colts lost to Cody Kessler led Jax team
3) Colts trailed NYG at home, late in 4th Q, 27-21
Can they be dangerous, Yes.
Are they inconsistent, Yes
Would I rather play Ravens team that gave up 34 to KC/LAC in regulation. Or Chargers who were 7-1 with 28 pts per game on road? No
they're 10-1 after a 1-5 start, they have an NFL best +117 point differential in that span (7-3 ats), they're top-10 in offensive and defensive efficiency (it's even better on this current streak), their o-line which never gives up sacks (just 18 allowed in 17 games) is now completely healthy, and andrew luck - who one colts writer said today is in "the best form i've ever seen him" - is playing extremely well for an offense that probably will have no trouble moving the ball on the chiefs' league-worst defense.
yes, the colts have played mostly lousy opponents. but most of the chiefs' wins, aside from the season-opener vs the chargers and the lucky ravens win, have also come against complete crap. they beat the raiders twice, the broncos twice, the cards, the jags, the browns, the broncos, the bengals, the 49ers and the steelers (a good-not-great win).
i'm forcing myself to be optimistic, mainly because i like to soak up the soul crushing defeats as much as humanly possible, but the colts are concerning. but of course, so isn't everybody - everybody but the texans, anyway. my preference was the ravens. they're not built to play from behind, and i think the chiefs offense will be able to move the ball and start fast against any team, no matter how good they are defensively. the chiefs' pass rush could have gotten to lamar; they probably won't touch luck all day.
oh well, the playoffs are fun. who doesn't like the playoffs?
