So assuming you want the Chiefs to get the 1-seed, and you also want the Texans to get the 2 over the Pats (I do, because I still think Pats and Ravens are the most dangerous playoff teams for the Chiefs) - who do you root for in the noon games today?
Well, obviously against the Pats, but losing to the Bills is unlikely.
So for or against Texans today? Pats have H2H tiebreak over Texans, so a Texans loss likely secures the Chiefs a 1 but also gives the Pats the 2. And if the Chiefs win tonight, a loss today by the Texans means the Chiefs secure the 1 and can rest against Oakland.
But a Texans win today combined with a Chiefs loss tonight still doesn’t hurt the Chiefs’ chances much of securing the 1, because the Chiefs would still hold the second tier conference record tiebreak if they beat the Raiders. Yes, the Chiefs wouldn’t be able to rest against Oakland, but it’d be a nice opportunity for Mahomes to pad his passing TD stats against a team that’s playing for draft position. And it likely denies the Pats the 2.
So crazy as it might sound, go Texans.
