Did Pete even live through the lin elliot debacle? Having a great kicker who is absolute nails in the postseason is worth its weight in gold (or .25 million more than the next highest paid kicker).

I highly doubt we win our last 2 super bowls if we replaced butker with a league average kicker.

I have been watching the nfl game highlight videos from the last two seasons and that stretch in '22 when Butker was hurt was pretty  :sdeek: from a kicking standpoint

OK, I agree that having a great kicker is great, but it seems like the second  or third to last potion (behind P and RB) that I’d want to be “highest paid.”

Butker has probably been more valuable to his team's winning percentage than tyreek hill

Hang on…how much more valuable is he than say the 4th or 5th cheapest free agent kicker in the offseason? I legitimately don’t know. Is he way better than other kickers?

Well his contract is $250k over his only peer, who is also on a super bowl caliber team.

And the savings would be what? $4 million a year maybe? That's a small price for such high value.

Difference between our cheap guys and the top rb is like $12 million a year? I didn't actually look it up.

As long as you don't have one of the 5-10 worst kickers in the league, you're generally going to be just fine.

Didn't Bass miss a field goal in the Divisional Playoff game under the 2:00 mark that could have tied and possibly sent the game into overtime?  If he made it, the Chiefs would have had to march down the field and set Butker up for the game winner.

I think clutch kickers are pretty important.

So this phrase "worth its weight in gold" ...
Butker is getting paid ~$6.5 million per year (average over the next 4 years) and weighs about 200 pounds, so he makes about $2,000 per ounce
Gold is something like ~$2,400 /ounce right now [daymn]

So he is getting paid close to, but somewhat less than, his weight in gold this year.  Seems like a hell of a bargain to me.     :kstategrad:

Should we schedule the ring fitting as soon as the game is over?

JuJu is back.  The WR cuts are going to be interesting.  Toney is for sure cut. I would be shocked if Sky Moore isn’t gone.

It does appear that Toney is a likely cut, but I still wouldn't be surprised if they kept him. He's cheap and has some ability still. I've also heard that the front office doesn't want to let him go due to the cost and see him be productive elsewhere. Moore is just pointless to have around at this point. If Toney is being a PITA, he will be gone though obv.

IDK, Toney single handedly cost the Chiefs 2 games with his inability to do his job. I get it happens occasionally but it was insane last year. I'd cut him just based on that alone. Skyy just doesn't like bring any value.

Your bottom 2-3 WR's need to be valuable at other positions or in the locker room (like Pringle during his tenure).  I don't see that with Tony or Sky Moore.

My guess is the following:
Rice
Brown
Worthy
JuJu
Watson (veteran and reliable ball catcher)
Hardman (his veteran experience possibly needed for a 3-peat)

Out:
Toney
Ross
Moore

If they keep 7, I'd put my money on Ross as he still has physical, big-body upside who could also play special teams.  We have plenty of small WR's (sorry Sky).

Juju is there to cover the Rice suspension (great move)

if juju, rice, and kelce are all on the field together it's going to be a crossing route bonanza
