finally watched both the spoof and kimmel's reaction to kanye's reaction. Who the eff is a bigger rock star than Kanye? Jay Z? It's a totally valid thing for Kanye to say.

If you have to say it, most times it isn't true.  Is there really any dispute that Jay Z is a bigger rock star than Kanye?

Pro Tip:  they did an album together and Kanye was second author.

But seriously  :flush:

this must truly be the flagship KS BBS because i think we've made it six pages without someone spelling it "kayne"?

Like Jay, 'hova, would allow Kanye to head up that album and the tour. Jay Z is richer tho. Jay was the bigger star a decade ago.  Once Kanye dropped Late Registration, back-to-back commercial smashes, he blew right past J. MBTDF cemented Kanye way ahead of Jay for like eternity.

I really don't think he's nuts, at all. He's definitely more bold than most people, but does that make someone nuts? He isn't risking life and limb. He isn't risking losing friends or family. He certainly isn't hurting career. So what's the harm? He confuses White America and makes them dislike him?

(loved that storify, BTW)

On the contrary, white people love Kanye. Old white people hate him, but young white people love him. He's an angry African-American and white people eat that crap up because it entertains them and reduces the African-American culture. Most white people think African-Americans are all young, angry men. So when show ponies like Kanye have these public meltdowns it entertains young white people because it plays up the stereotypes they want to believe. It's similar to how in the 90s there was a "goofball" African-American stereotype (Steve Urkel, Fresh Prince etc) that white people loved to laugh at. Now they love to laugh at the "angry black man".

If you can't see that Kanye is a caricature of what racist white people want African-Americans to be, then I can't help you.
