p.s.
when I say EXPECT I mean it. everyone on here has contributed financially to k-state in some way, be it tuition, tickets, merchandise, etc. Some on here might donate, or plan on it at some point. Make your voice heard, it's your right. I worked in the athletic department and you'd probably be amazed how much work they put into determining the general fan bases opinion and factoring it into decisions. Your leaders duty is to work for you, your duty is to hold your leaders accountable.

This.  Yes.

I know I'm late to this party, but the fact that our athletic department places value on our fan base's general opinion is scary, and telling.

It's how you end up with things like the FB schedule poster.  What does our fanbase generally like?  Harleys, fireworks, and splattered paint.

Only if we take our fanbase's general opinion seriously.  We'd also end up w/ good old fashioned CRT TV's instead of LED's, Sidekicks instead of iphones, etc.

I didn't notice any bays for tractor warming in those pictures, kinda confused by that.

Also, WTF needs to be done to the OOD to "bring it to code?". It's not like it's some super old and outdated fieldhouse...

things like 2 prong outlets and knob and tube wiring

The real costs are bringing the building up to modern ADA compliance standards.  We'd spend over a million on this alone.

I was thinking that all city, county, state, etc buildings had to be compliant...

It is, but ADA compliant to past standards in place at the time of construction.  ADA compliance standards evolve over time and in the event of a substantial building modification, we would be obligated to bring the entire building up to the current code standards in in line with the local jurisdiction.

So havs... They put a new practice facility there and that tilt-up monstrocity you posted a while back converts to a corn crib?  Man, those 'clones can SURE raise money!

Some of the best moments of my life were in corn cribs. This only excites me more about the future of Iowa State Basketball!!

However, last I checked, a finished and usable monstrosity of a practice facility (your opinion, not mine) is a lot more usable than a couple blueprints of a future building sitting in Anderson Hall. The Iowa State basketball programs each have an entire gym (with state of the art training, video, and weight facilities) to each team specifically for them and them only. Last I checked, KSU just had blueprints.

as always, diplomatically and correctly said... it's good that at least one of our little12 schools could actually get something BUILT... and kudos to you for that (plus, i have some iowa st people in the family <yes, blood diluted from the purest purple> and i can't go too harshly on you guys)

FYI the Rec expansion had a max cap of $18.8 million and the lowest/accepted bid came in at $15.9 million.  The majority of the bids came in under.  Great time for construction.

Educational Facility Private Activity Revenue Bonds on
behalf of K-State Athletics, Inc., a Kansas 501(c)(3) notfor-
profit corporation (the corporation), in the principal
amount of not to exceed $45 million, plus amounts sufficient

Seriously?  The face amount of the bonds floated won't be more than $45 million.

This is great news, I wonder how long it is after the hearing until the financing actually comes to fruition?!?

Lobbyists, please ask for a few hundred dollars for banners and purple paint to cover up the embarrassing fact that we paint our accomplishments on the walls because, and this is me assuming, the AD was too lazy to hang banners or buy a ladder or something.
