There's a couple of albums I decided to check out after seeing them on a lot of people's year end lists, that I didn't actually listen to in 2009 but wish I had.

The Horrors - Primary Colours (never thought I would say that)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNjcSgU0Nrg

The Big Pink - A Brief History of Love (The album has a lot more than Dominos)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OA3twi3iSNQ

Also, speaking of old but new to me, I had never really listened to Roxy Music before, but that crap is pretty incredible.

kilgore's music collection is as wide open as the mogoloid twins' eyes when they take the court.
he aint comin. mark it down.

Yeah, didn't expect him to.  He's always welcome here though.  Will always have a soft spot for ol' kt.

He's very cuddly.  He even walked me through how to roll a j when I was high once on the phone.
So fracking jealous.

i will always be there to walk you through it, babe.

also crusty... new music

Super excited for the new "The Knife" album. They wrote an opera. If you can imagine what that would be like, its intense. They have a song on the net from it called "colouring of pigeons."

http://www.theknife.net/

new rjd2 sux. new portishead is pretty f'n good.

i'm all for an ftp i am sitting around 100 gigs of music. i decided a while ago to just start compiling music for library purposes.

p.s. what type of music are you wanting to discuss?

Love "The Knife" can't wait either.

Santogold is a good listen as well.

I can only handle so much Ratatat. Loved it at first, got tiresome after track 4.

Mogwai is great.

Lots of good stuff in this thread.  A friend of mine just sent me a mix CD with this song by Dios.  It's from 2004, but deserves some  for its lyrics (great break-up song):

Also, is ECN the first poster to off himself on this site?

My wife is very "eclectic."

We are now listening to Paper Bird.  I like it.  Lots of trombone and banjo and chicks singing.  Hippy bluegrass is what I suppose the genre would be.

They all used to live up the street from me in a big Paper Bird love fest mandolin commune... I like em... but they don't have much of an edge to them.

Roxy Music is absolutely amazing (See my profile pic!). The first two albums with Brian Eno are absolutely epic to any Glam-Rock enthusiast. Truly ahead of their time along with Bowie and the Velvet Underground. The next two albums sans Eno hold their own as well. Country Life is actually the one that kick-started me down my decade long Roxy infatuation. After that, there are some good singles but the albums get a little to "adult contemporarty" for my taste.

However, there are still some real gems to be found listening to some of Bryan Ferry's solo work. Also Eno's solo albums, "Here Come the Warm Jets" and "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy" rival any of the Roxy albums in pure epic eliteness.
