Back in the late '70s on one winter day in Albuquerque when it was around 70 degrees my wife and I decided to go to the Hot Springs about 50 miles east in the Rocky Mountains. Since we were on my bike, it got fairly cold as we went over the pike. As we were going down on the other side it started to get dark so we camped at a roadside view area. When we woke up the next morning, it had snowed about a foot deep but it was still and the sun came out. As we were packing the bike, an big as eff grey wolf came across the road around 100 yards from us. It stopped and looked at us and I guess it didn't want anything to do with bikers crazy enough to be camping and cruising in the mountains in the middle of winter. That was the only wolf I had ever seen in the wild.
