I'm drinking coffee out of a Logan Jr. High mug today. I'm not sure how it came in to my possession, I certainly didn't get it for anything while I was in school there.

Might be worth something if it was a Northern Hills mug.   ;)

Pfft. My class dominated Northern Hills in everything but being pud loserfaces. As freshman we combined to be a powerhouse, we might be the winning-est class in Seaman High history (completely unfounded assertion).

eff off Metalhead.

Thoughts on McFarland's and oriental express (on 29th east of Wanamaker)?

Also that Mexican meat market with the orange building got shut down for health code violations before I could try it

Also lol at taco tico getting shut down for not paying their taxes, that little building on 17th looks so sad (saw a sign for something involving java, coming soon)

Oriental Express is suprisingly good for being in such a small dumpy looking building.  Their little sushi bar is better than expected too.

The North Topeka (NOTO  :D ) Taco Tico reopened within a few days so not sure why the one on 17th didn't.

I enjoy McFarland's, but my 51 year old mother looks like a teenager compared to the rest of the clientele.

McFarlands is for old people only.

Oriental Express used to be a Kwik shop back in the day that young saulbadguy used to walk to to get an Icee.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

went to a wedding reception there; no joke...and no, it wasn't an old people "i married my neighbor because i'm 80" type wedding...however that is what the reception was like.

McFarlands....you've got to be joking?

Oriental Express....Korean food is better than chinese.  Sushi is acceptable, but pricey considering the ambiance.

the orange place will open again, but I'd never eat there.   hit up Tacos El mex or Tacos El Sol.

Anybody going to this?

Looks like fun :drink:

I'd consider it if they would list which breweries will be there.

Only read the last four pages, don't know how much of this is old news on this thread.

Mexican

Casa Ramos-the Pork something or another (begins with U, you won't confuse it with anything else on the menu) or Zarapes

Panchos-Think Burrito King with a drive thru and more variety.  Carnitas burritos and tortas very good, if you can eat more than one you have a tapeworm problem.  If you get a torta make sure to get a fork and keep the plate or styrofoam box directly over your lap.  Half of your torta is going to end up in your lap if you don't.  Don't worry if it does there will still be plenty left on the bread.

Italian- Paisanos as much by default as anything else though it is a lot better than it was seven or eight years ago.  Still miss Grazies though.  Not quite full Italian but Manny's over where Shakes used to be has solid Phillys and veal or chicken Parmesan sandwiches and the best onion rings in town.

Pizza-LaRocca's, Glory Days, or Via's (deep stuffed version) College Hill is okay if you get the chunky marinara instead of the regular sauce.

Chinese-Hunams

Cajun-new place just opened where Grazies and Boscos used to be.  Called Red Snappa or something like that.  Po Boys are cajun equivalent of Pancho's tortas. Ability to unhinge jaw could be useful.  Also serve ribs that look good but I have not tried.

Gizzards-Topeka Steak House, tenderest, most perfectly cooked gizzards I've ever had and you get a full bowel movement full of them for about seven dollars.

Steaks-go to Puffy's in Maple Hill.

BBQ-Boss Hawgs burnt ends

Passed through or was in Topeka three times in 24hrs from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon.  Drove to MHK and back Friday night to pick up some of lady BR's stuff.  Stopped at Spangels  Back on Saturday afternoon for a wedding.   I am Topeka'd out.
