what our fans don’t realize is that he’s just as frustrated as they are.  it was wild to watch/hear him getting into it with the fans around me last night.  DURING THE GAME WHEN THE BALL WAS LIVE. he screamed at one of them that he’d be doing more if his teammates were getting him the ball more.

Hawkins was great last night
he had a good game, wouldn’t say great

i can’t understand why tang is running the offense through him twenty five feet from the basket.  he shouldn’t be touching the ball out there and it’s slowing the team further down from getting into the offense.  by the time the ball gets back to the wing, we’re at eighteen/nineteen seconds on the shot clock which then defaults the offense to max jones breaking down his defender or some version of a turnover/low percentage play.

i’d like to see him play iso in the high post or at least within the arc.

he’s fun to watch and good at basketball.
This is the scene report I needed

The team looked really good from what I saw. They must have looked god awful before I started watching to get down by 20, though. Still, I'm optimistic that they start winning against teams with pulses soon.

the first 10 minutes last night were so bad i was searching up the box score of Wooly's Waterloo loss in Municipal to UMKC in 2003 (93-50 w/ 40-22 halftime) so it has been worse.

The final play of regulation coming out of a timeout was a microcosm of this season and team.

That we're light on talent, yeah. Hausen isn't a top 3 option on any high major tournament team. We have the talent of a very good mid major.

We have at least 3 guys that can get their own shot and Hausen isn't one of them. Designing a play for him to get a shot at the end was just poor coaching.

Agreed. I think that play should have been run with Dug and Hawkins, or run a play that isos Hawkins on the block or high post.

I argued with my brother last month that Hausen ideally was a 15-20 minute per game guy and that his all-around game was enough to justify the 32 minutes a game he was playing (he only played 22 last night). But then the Jones boys were MIA for a number of games and Hausen can be deadly when he gets the right matchup. The problem is as last night and the second half of St. John's proved, he is very guardable by better athletes and he's probably doing to see one every night in conference (except maybe Mayo). For sure, he should not have been on the floor defensively  guarding Stirtz on the last play of OT.
Our portal failure was at small forward. We're not going to get a Johnson every year, but a Mark Smith is just what this team desperately needs.
