1) if Trump and Vance say this is the policy most of the Republicans would fall right in line and it would easily pass with Dem votes. Zero chance the dems are able to get a single republican vote for it even if they call it the “make America great again and we love kissing Trump act”
Unfortunately for the Dems they had the thing passed, but Sinema and Manchin blocked it last time.
2) They shouldn’t do a child tax credit at all, it should just be a benefit paid through social security to the kid/guardian of the kid. The tax credit part of it is a huge bureaucratic waste and complicates things unnecessarily, especially if it is means tested.
3) as a tax credit it mostly misses the poorest families/kids which is the worst part of it
