Are we looking at a temporary situation with Houston as the indisputable kings of the conference?

i don’t know the answer to your question but I do know that it’s hard to unseat the king

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

As long as Kelvin is running the show, I'd say the chances of them being unseated is absolute zero.

They will be the new overlords.  The Wildwildcats may expedite that with ending Bill’s tenure in a little over a week from now.

If Baylor's freshmen stick around, they'll make a natty run next year. But they probably won't. On the other hand, Houston doesn't get the one and dones but put a bunch of experienced and talented juniors and seniors on the floor. That's how Baylor and KU won their titles, tho both have been able to recruit star freshmen (Self hasn't really done much with them of late). I hope it's the blueprint Tang has in place with our freshmen and sophomores -- that is a solid core of homegrown talented juniors and seniors who are augmented with key portal dudes.

Self has been and will always be jealous that Sampson knows how to work the system better than him.  Furphy was dying to go to Houston and Sampson laughed in his pubescent face. And when you add the fact that Houston has 100x the deeper pockets than anyone from Lawrentucky... you have your answer.
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

Between Massa Seff's heart attack and NIL, KU's days of dominating the conference are over.  Houston will be one of many kings in the coming years.

Is 68 year old Kelvin Sampson immune from aging then?
