Two thing's I'd like to get sooner than later: Sauna and a cold plunge tub of some sort that I don't have to buy or make ice for.

I've got a sauna and highly recommend. They make cold tubs you can put in your house, but I've never been able to do them so I'm a pass there. I've still never tried one, but I think I would like one of those saltwater float tanks. There used to be a place in KC and I always wanted to give it a try, but never made it.
Go the infrared route?

yeah, I rolled the dice on a Costco deal a couple years ago knowing they will take back anything. Still going strong. Plugs in to a normal outlet and will get up to about 138 after 20 min or so. I wish it would get a bit warmer and faster, but for the cost and convenience, it is what it is. I try to do 30 min a few times a week. Need to up that to 4-5 days but whatevs. I normally try and meditate to soothing jams the first 5-10 minutes and then just chill and sweat the rest. Feels great.

i have multiple buds that have built cold tubs in the last few months and they all rave about the positive effects - increased sharpness and focus for hours after the plunge and nagging injuries like tennis elbow going away.  I have not done it but it sounds too good to be true

Just put ice in your cold bathwater or have your S/O hose you down in the driveway with some cold Kansas tap water.

I do an ice bath after a 2+ hour run or ride. Legs only. It does help with the swelling, inflammation, and niggles from the grind of long distance training. No way I'm taking up space with one.

From what I gather, most of this stuff does nothing in real life and you should just eat good food and exercise. Want fish oil, eat fish, need vitamin D, get some sun and eat stuff with vitamin D and so on. On the other hand, we are all lazy as eff so we don't do that. It also changes like every day as to whether any of the normal ones do anything at all. People have been going back and forth on fish oil supplements for like ever. I'm lucky and don't have to take any medications. I'm glad, because I would be terrible at it. I feel so bad for people that have to pay a crap ton of money and take a bunch of stuff every day.

If I take anything at all, it is basically the following:

Costco Organic Food Based Multi - I try and take food based vitamins if any because that makes sense to me, but i'm an idiot.

Whey Protein chowder after getting huge at the gym

Fish Oil, rarely and should prob take more based on some current stuff I've been reading which will probably change in 4 days

Vitamin D in winter because around December 3rd I start wanting to punch everyone in their stupid faces because its cold and dark outside. I don't think this does anything, but see below.

Random probiotics, I also try and drink kombucha on the regular.

If taking a choke yourself full of rock minerals every day makes you feel better, it probably isn't hurting you so do you.

Need a ruling on if eating salt with iodine is being lazy as eff.

I take an absolute massive amount of pills. Didn't set out planning to do this but I've just added them slowly and now I have like a big handful I gulp down right when I wake up and some before bed. Not sure if I'm helping or hurting myself here but I do it. The nighttime ones I know for sure help me sleep because I fought insomnia off and on for a long time and now just sleep perfect 100% of the time.

Here's my current morning roster:
Men's One A Day Multi
Fish Oil
Magnesium (malate, glycinate, citrate)/Zinc/D blend
Glutathione
CoQ10
Ashwagandha/GABA blend

Mid-day drink mix:
Re-lyte hydration (pina colada flavor because it tastes good AF. this one has more magnesium glycinate and malate in it)
Amazing Grass Detox & Digest (tastes gross AF which offsets the above)

Evening roster:
L-Theanine
Inositol
Glycine
Did you add these just to address specific ailments one by one or do you have a lot of MLM friends?

Not ailments just randomly kept adding to it. Some I guess were ailments like the stuff before bed. Some were my MD suggesting (multi, fish oil, coq10). But most I just either had someone tell me I should take it or read something about it and gave it a whirl. I’m sure it’s mostly placebo but if I thought I felt better I kept taking it. Probably the most clearly non-placebo effects (affects?) were the bedtime stuff, the magnesium combo in the morning, and the green stuff and electrolyte drink I cook up every day. I buy all this stuff from either Costco or Amazon.

That makes sense. I’m not necessarily a believer in supplements but I’m a big believer in having a consistent health-focused routine, so who cares why it works as long as it works!

There’s actually a great story I won’t look up right now about a lady who was given a placebo during trials for an IBS drug and it made her instantly feel better. After the trial she asked them to continue “prescribing” the placebo—knowing it was a placebo—and it’s still the only thing that worked for her.

Yeah, I’ve discovered magnesium is pretty much a super mineral. Is helpful for so much stuff.

yes. i've had 2 things in my life that were extremely annoying to deal with and would give me headaches and other problems - facial tics and teeth grinding at night. magnesium kicked both of their asses.

what kind of magnesium? Any idea if you were deficient or did you just supplement to give it a shot? I've read that a very high % of Americans are deficient in mag since we eat like crap and don't eat leafy greens and nuts. I try to eat a bit of both, but that is one area I should prob def consider supplementing.

not sure if i'm deficient but looking at foods with high magnesium i probably am. they do say to keep it under 500mg a day though so you might want to figure out how much you're getting from your diet. have taken citrate and glycinate. glycinate is supposed to be the better/best one, but citrate seems better for my issues, which seems to have to do with an overactive nervous system.

And there are like 20 different kinds of magnesium and they all do different things!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mostly good for keeping the poop coming out of your butt at regular intervals
That’s Magnesium Citrate!

malate helps with energy and muscle performance
glycinate helps sleep
taurate helps blood pressure
chloride also helps digestion but doesn't speed it up as much as citrate
sulfate helps with sore muscles
threonate helps your brain work better

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

can you get all of these in one?

some supplement ideas for you guys to "chew" on. mushrooms could have really good benefits. like cordyceps, lions mane. this thing i saved before, seemed interesting:

i treat my body and brain like a motherfucking trash can though so i haven't looked into any of the above. although if some of those things help prevent getting sketti-brained at an older age, may be good to consider.
