I might have just made the safest bet of all time with my buddy...If you have been following this blog for years you might know him as the guy who Doug Gottlieb stiffed out of $1000 on a free throw bet.

TLDR: My buddy and I wager on random crap and tonight he bet me $1000 Bama won't win a CFB natty in the next 20 years and I took it.

Long story, my buddy and I gamble on all sorts of random crap when we are hanging out. He hasn't water ski'd in 10 years? $100 you don't get up on your first try (I won). We are drinking and debating who has a bigger metro population Dallas or Houston? $100 to him for Dallas somehow being bigger than Houston now. We've placed a 10 year fun coupon wager on if one of our mutual friends would get divorced (I bought out at $75 when they had their first kid). It's a constant back and forth.

Tonight I got the best odds I could ever get in my life. We were talking CFB and he is convinced that Alabama is the next Nebraska and will never be competitive again now that Saban is gone. We ended up wagering $1000 on whether Bama would win another natty in the next 20 years.

Worst case scenario in 20 years that $1000 is worth like $500 after inflation or something much less.

Best case scenario I win 10 fun coupons in the next couple of years.

I see absolutely no negative repercussions.

I think you're right, but I couldn't get all that excited over a 20-year payout. Although I guess that's only if you lose.  I would be shocked if you weren't at least close enough to get a buyout offer well before that.
