It's crazy that Michael Beasley spent a year at K-State for a pittance. I remember him talking about eating Mac and cheese. What would a player of his stature demand now?

Bye Felicia
if I was a fan of a league and especially so a team that will need a substantial amount of fans to support itself, i would be concerned about turning off its fans.

the tide will be turning away from this model and it’s going to have a compounding effect.
Doom will be poppin' next year and games will be fun. Tang has already said he will have to approach non-con games in a new light since computer ranking care about how much a team wins by. No more OT games and those paycheck non-con teams will get run. Hawkins and Dickinson will dust up social media like pro wrestling. The level of competition in the Big 12 is going to be overwhelming.
What I see fans really having no patience with is lack of hustle or commitment.

They're so mean:
Quote
While I agree with this on principle, the real question isn't whether Coleman Hawkins is worth it. The real $2M question is how desperate is Pooty to salvage the season by paying anybody decent absurd amounts of money to go there.

Quote
Some are talking about Hawkins at the 3 which would be really funny

Quote
What they
Quote
don't report is that the 2 million is in farm acreage and a prize winning bull.

Quote
What they don't report is that the 2 million is in farm acreage and a prize winning bull.

Quote
He averaged 12 & 6… ‘A LOT’ better is some. Alrighty then logic and KSU spent $2m on that. More like ‘A LOT’ of stupidity

Quote
Yeah, just took a quick glance at the lineup thread in their VIP board and the first poster has Achor, Hawks and Onyenso as the 3-4-5. Talented team but the roster construction is not exactly very 2024.

(again the absence of know sex offenders stands out to the knowledgeable phoggie)

Quote
So K-State can pay $2 million for a mediocre forward, but can't spend $150 for a body for their $hitty mascot?

Quote
Their NIL strategy does seem to be to put all their cash on 1 or 2 big players. Goldilocks on their football team is the other big example.
(the photo of Avery and Mahomes broke them, I think)

Quote
Mess around with enough sheep and he will definitely get the “clapper”
(the obligatory sheep rough ridin' post.)

Quote
Frankly, all this money talk, whether legit or not, makes him a marked man, in my opinion. Pretty sure Dickinson will have plenty to "say" on the court in our games against K-State to prove Hawkins is no "Two Million Dollar Man" . . . and not even close to it.
  oooohh Dickinson.

Quote
aterville has been paying players for years. It's just legal now and not just with sheep and chickens.
Yeah, oscar Weber, known CBB bag man.

Quote
I remember when their recruiting slush fund account was discovered around the time Ron Prince was fired. Of course no NCAA investigation because nobody cares about the.
There's dumbasses, and then there's the special kind of phog dumbasses.

And finally an honest post that admits to the trigger of all this vitriol:
Quote
Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting a little tired of K-State being good at every major sport.

it will be popping next year.  and probably the year after that. but this shift in dynamic will erode the support away.

it’s unsustainable and anyone who thinks that people are going to continue pumping their hard earned money into NIL deals, the majority of which aren’t going to deliver the desired results, is wrong.

there’s going to be a lot of buyer’s remorse after the newness wears off.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

If it's unsustainable, it will change out of necessity. It will require the SEC and BIG to renounce dreams of empire for sanity to return.

I think there is a 50/50 chance the self hate and insecurity in our fanbase will ensure long term pumping into the NIL because of KU. One thing is for sure about a lot of kstaters, and probably most fanbases, they are insecure as eff and will gladly pay a crap ton of money to beat their rival and to dominate those they perceive as under them.

Geez, you make is seem so ugly. I thought it was about the joy of watching athletes physically challenge themselves thru healthy competition and attempt to achieve excellence in a team environment. I'm now disillusioned.

Sorry, bro.

Good news!  You can be in the other half of the fan base that just likes fast pace dunk shots!

I mean I get what you're saying here, but college sports wouldn't be what it is without those people. I'm not one of those people, but if you don't have that passion and hate, I don't even know what the purpose of college athletics is. The product is worse than minor league sports.

Just my humble opinion but I think what a lot of ppl here are grappling with is that for most of their lives, college sports did, at least in appearance, have something to do with the actual University other than being in the same geographical location. And now it's just blatantly obvious that when a player chooses to come here, it has absolutely nothing to do with the University itself and is purely a business decision. I mean I suppose to some degree the coach(es) will have some sway on where they choose to go but I think the days of the player spending their entire (or even the majority) of their playing career at a single school are long gone.

And don't get me wrong, I absolutely think players deserved to get paid. Quite frankly the NCAA needs to establish a trust and make back payments to all the kids whom they made literal billions off of without giving them so much as a red cent.

But there was probably a better way to allow athletes to be compensated above board that didn't entirely bastardize the, let's call it "recruitment/retention" aspect of the game

Agree completely.  I don't even bother to read this blog, but hearing about BB NIL group(s) paying this kid north of 2 mil. follows along that in '22 the Big XII had the highest amount of payouts over all the other so-called Supper 2 conferences.  NIL is for real and it's not going away.

Not only did the NCAA(university presidents) fuc...ed these kids out of money, but also ruined some of these student's careers.  These are the ones that should have separate lawsuits for damages.  Also, the students that were injured and were crippled for life should be suing the frick out of these assholes.

Maybe we should all get weirdly into Ivy League sports.

COLUMBUS — Ohio State is adding Kansas State grad transfer Ques Glover for the 2024-25 campaign. Glover joins the Buckeyes after redshirting last season, his lone season with the Wildcats. Before that, he starred for two years at Samford. He spent the first two seasons of his college career at Florida.

His last name always gave me hope that he would be awesome at defense. Could he defend like THE Glove?
