Dude, you can't compare the teams Akeem played on with the E8 team of last year.  Just substitute Wright for Sutton on last year's team and ask yourself if that team would be better or worse.  Both were very good defenders with limted offensive skill sets.  I think that Akeems passing and ball hanling abilities may give him a slight edge.

I absolutely love Dom, but I don't think this can be denied.

Add to the fact that akeem wasn't a giant head case
I'm purple down

Akeem could barely dribble. I'm with you on everything else though.

Compared to Sutton, Akeem had some crazy handles.

Company line.

Quote
MANHATTAN — At this time next week, Dominique Sutton plans to be living in his home state of North Carolina, holding his two young daughters in his arms.
It's a scene he looks forward to. After being separated from them for long periods while playing basketball at Kansas State, Sutton decided he needed to transfer closer to his kids before embarking on his senior season.
"Being around my kids every day, and having the chance to play in front of my family all the time sounds pretty good," Sutton said by phone Saturday. "I love them a lot. I want to be there for them, and be a part of their life. Seeing them grow up is something I want to do."
Had he returned to K-State, the 6-foot-5 Sutton would have been an important part of a team trying to improve on last season’s run to the Elite Eight. That's something he was looking forward to as well. Watching his teammates and coaches on TV next year will not be easy.
"I'm leaving behind everything that I helped build," Sutton said. "It's tough to say goodbye to all that, but sometimes other things come up that are just more important."
Sutton said he first thought about transferring at the end of his junior season, but kept those feelings to himself. It wasn't until he arrived in Manhattan for summer school that he informed coach Frank Martin he might transfer.
He said the coaching staff told him to weigh his options for a few weeks and give them an answer in July.
"They pretty much left it in my hands," Sutton said. "They said they were behind me whatever I wanted to do. I eventually told them I wanted to be closer to my family, so I left."
He said his teammates were shocked to hear the news.
"It was pretty random," Sutton said. "I don't think anyone suspected it. I didn't want to tell them, but it was something I had to deal with."
Sutton is still living in Manhattan, but plans to move home to Durham, N.C., in the next few days. He said his immediate family and girlfriend still live there.
Both he and Martin have said Sutton is leaving K-State in good academic standing, and he hopes to transfer to a Division I program and finish out his senior season in 2011-12.
Sutton is unsure what school he will end up with, but he is hoping to land with Wake Forest or North Carolina State.
"Whichever school feels like they can use a wing player like myself," Sutton said. "I'll pretty much find out once I get out there."
He says he will fondly look back on his time at K-State.
"There's no bad blood at all between us," Sutton said. "I'm leaving on a good note. I'm proud of what I did at K-State and what we accomplished as a team. Everything was good."

Interesting. Was curious how this one was going to get written up but wasn't sure exactly what the story coming out of Bramlage would be.

The parting of ways might not have been ugly, but things started devolving after the first of the year. Basically a lack of effort and a few other things is what killed Dom's career at K-State. At least good to know how to expect Frank to handle these kinds of situations in the future. He obviously isn't easy to budge from the way he prefers to run the team.

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

I see it's been touched on and all, but per inside connections... Dom was in trouble at the time being late for meetings, and also a fight at a local Manhattan bar. Frank doesn't play that game and he was going to be gone anyway. I am just glad that Frank didn't do it on a bad note allowing this kid to have another chance. I will miss his defense but his offense made me want to hang myself, take care Dom and don't screw up your second chance!
Maybe you folks aren't so bad...

I think it's cute that Dobs is trying to pretend ksufans.com actually knows anything about anything and is therefore still relevant.  It's almost like having Ben around again.  Almost.

I think this thing was up in the air until as late as 2 weeks ago.  I know for a fact that at that point in time Dom was still looking at apartments for next year in Manhattan.  It sounds to me like Frank gave Dom plenty of chances to get things in order and he failed to meet the last opportunity, which likely came in the last 2 weeks, and then both sides agreed to a reasonable break-up.

both he and Fitz broke the news (internally) weeks ago.  since the SID has made the release, both are now willing to talk about it in the public forum.

I have it on good authority that Fitz is sitting on explosive inside information that may or may not ever come out.

Someone needs to waterboard Fitz asap so we can get at some of this completely credible inside information that he's always sitting on.

Random ESPN blogger chimes in....

Quote
In other words, the Wildcats might take a slight hit from Sutton's transfer, especially on the defensive end, where Kelly will have to improve. Still, if all goes well, Pullen and company will be right where they planned before they heard Sutton's news. That's the kind of depth you'd expect from a powerhouse like Kansas. But it's happening in Manhattan, too.

His ability to be our primary defensive stopper except when Frank switches Pullen to his man because he's sucking will be missed, for sure.

Great summarization here folks

hey retards, it's better to have 2 better-than-average perimeter defenders than 1.  it's not like pullen becomes a better defender because kstate no longer has sutton.

also moronic how all the 'tards love to talk up the pullen on fredette switch up, but ignore pullen getting abused by white in the mississippi game.  big rough ridin' surprise, the 6'0" better-than-average perimeter defender did better against smaller guards, and the 6'5" better-than-average defender did better against bigger players.

Two things.  First, Pullen had to take Sutton's man multiple times last season.  Second, when this happened, Sutton went to the bench (and was not on the perimeter playing defense).

The point here is that Sutton was not the amazing lock down defender that people thought he was.  Overall, he'll be missed, but not nearly as much as people seem to think.

Our friend Ben says that a Box and 1 defense against us next year should work well.

If that's what Ben thinks, I will go ahead and guarantee that a box and 1 will have disasterous results for any team that employs that tactic against us.

So today I got some super-secret elite inside dirt. :gocho: My barber said he cut the hair of a friend of one of the assistant coaches, and the real reason Sutton left wasn't his kids in SC. Sutton just wasn't working hard, wasn't willing to put in the requisite amount of work. So, Frank gave him the choice to leave. OK, I dunno what the other choice was. Anyway, I know some form of this story has been reported before, but this is just more evidence to back it up. Sutton, you blew it.  :nono:

I'm 6'2" so he doesn't seem "really rough ridin'" big to me, but he's pretty big I guess. He's sorta old, parted white hair, glasses, owns his shop. That him?
