I really don't understand how this team could be so bad at getting in position to get a defensive rebound. Maybe it's defensive scheme or something.
My extremely low bbiq agrees with this sentiment. Even when we had great defense under oscar, I remember being frustrated we weren’t getting more rebounds. I don’t really get what the magic is.

I was mostly bummed out because they got it close in the end and I started to think we were going to do it.  I think ISU exposed and took advantage of a few things that we'll be able to fix and be better for.

This loss, while expected and predicted, still bummed me out a little bit.  I had very unreasonable hopes that I nurtured into expectations (premeditated resentments) :frown:  That's on me, my bad.
One thing I like about this team is we’ve had several nights of some really bad turnovers and sloppy looking play and yet almost always have pulled out the W or at least kept it close like last night. The talent is pretty great, and Tang has another month+ to get these guys in shape to make a Tournament run.

I am just loving the advertisements for Tang in form of national press.  I want to milk this and for his recruiting to really be maximized.  So far, so good!

With both teams shooting so well there was not a large number of opportunities comparatively for rebounds. On our defensive end, there were quite a few long rebounds off of threes and then a handful of airballs by ISU. Those are difficult types of rebounds for the defense and bigs in particular. I am more worried about our defense giving up easy buckets and not having more opportunities for offensive rebounds. All that though, we do still need to improve our interior rebounding across the board.

Ish is a great spot up shooter. He is not good at anything else. That is fine, I suppose. Put him in correct situations. Less minutes at least on defense. Hopefully N'Guessan will be back to full strength soon and push Ish back to more of a situational/role player.

Nguessan is going to take minutes from bay bay not massoud.  His offense is too valuable.

Yeah if ish stays in god mode from beyond the arc I don’t think they’ll be taking his minutes away. Our offense will work a lot better if there is more than just quis who is looking to shoot treys. I know desi can shoot the 3 but I don’t think he’s in the “I’ll take the 3 if i get the chance” mindset it seems like he’d rather take someone off the dribble

Also another thing that kinda sucked about last night, I don’t think tomlin even once successfully got a drive into the lane from the top of the key. Seems like be can usually blow by some chump on his way to an easy bucket but they were ready asf for that last night. Same could be said for keyonte. In the last minute when he tried to drive and create a shot he had nowhere to go and just ended up throwing it to an Iowa state guy and it was just that kind of night in the paint for the boys in purple (well, black technically last night, but you know what I mean)

ISU's doubles really flustered Keyontae. I expect adjustments from him and the staff next time!

Like lib said, it's a tough league.

He kept taking it to the same spot on the floor to get trapped.  I expect those adjustments will make us much better in the long term.

i hope he did not bring Drew's "tradition" of yelling box out when the other team is shooting a free throw, it is so very cringe

Is it bad if I yell at my little kids' team to box out on FTs? If I don't yell, they will forget to do it.

i don’t care that the league is tough, a loss is a loss.  the loss is made considerably worse when you consider that we let iowa state dictate how the game was played and bowed to them.  i can’t watch that game and not feel like we gave them the win.

i’ve been hammering on their shitty rebounding all season and it’s just a lack of fundamentals. rebounding is all about attitude and desire and begins the minute you walk into the gym.  these guys aren’t worried about it because they want to push possessions up and make up for the opponent’s second chances through pace of play and out shooting the additional shots the other team is putting up.

There is a decided lack of want to (ol Roy'ism) in multiple facets of the game at bad times during the game.  Coupled with terrible shot selection and not valuing possession of the basketball.

Some of the passes attempted last night were just comical.  H.S. Freshman B team basketball comical.

Nowell’s minutes are like 36 minutes a game, he’s going to be worn down to the bone by the conference tournament.

I really don't understand how this team could be so bad at getting in position to get a defensive rebound. Maybe it's defensive scheme or something.

Tang hinted at this during the press conference. However, I think he's saying the coaches need to find ways to help the players better. Ultimately we aren't a good rebounding team because we're currently playing one true big and we simply don't have a roster of good rebounders. We tend to pop two guards out as outlet options so we can get out and run, and that isn't helpful when trying to rebound either.
