Unfounded Conspiracy Theory: what if tang wanted Tomlin kicked off the team and dick lint is taking the heat to shield him? (#leadership)

This is so crazy it just might be true

So our mouse of a would-be swinging dick prez apparently pressured Taylor to issue a statement (and hotherefore take blame) ghosting Tomlin because 1) he's too much a coward to take the heat for his own decision and 2) he had baby-ass snit because a college student showed up at a demonstration his fellow students had in his behalf? Leadership of a kind, I guess. Our university is in good hands.

Seems like all the protest did was speed up the announcement of the dismissal. All the leaks that started coming out last night and this morning made it sound like a final decision was coming today and it wasn't looking good. Guessing the hope was outside pressure would change UPs mind.

On the bright side: there are only 90 minutes left in this day so there’s a very good chance we won’t be getting even more bad news today

Protests should not inform this kind of decision. The president should not be making this decisions at all.

I was once at a press conference in which Jon Wefald announced details of university reorganization (downsized school of architecture and a bunch of other things I can't remember) as students marched thru the halls of Anderson very loudly chanting for his dismissal. The university was basically closed down with protest. Wefald withdrew the whole thing within the week.

The privacy aspect is ruining Tomlin's reputation because it leads many to the conclusion he must have done something very bad. I'm seeing lots of posts that basically state"there must be a lot more to this or he would be cleared to play. I don't want someone who decked a coed on the team." But ol' Southern boy Lint just smugly hides behind subordinates and "federal rules,"while Tomlin's is screwed.
I assume Tomlin can transfer and is clear to play elsewhere for second semester. Would not surprise me to see him in red and blue.
The decision and statement apparently came from Taylor FWIW.

And yeah, I absolutely expect some charges to be coming soon. Otherwise it makes zero sense to suspend the guy like a month before dismissing him.

charges? didn't he already get a diversion? are these different ones?

Keep in mind I have no idea what I'm talking about. All I'm saying is the cryptic statement about "false information" circulating and not being able to address the situation sure makes it sound like some non-public information is out there that justifies dismissal as opposed to the suspension he got following the arrest.

If there isn't, it's a bad look for the university and AD, and I would probably send an email to that address doom was circulating.

I guess it's also possible that nothing really changed except Tomlin lied about some details that ended up coming to light. Isn't that what happened with Kareem Hunt in KC?

If the story about him beating up a girl is true, I'd like him off the team. Pretty hard to believe that story is true without an arrest and criminal charges, though.
From what I am hearing it is not even close to that. Tomlin was involved in an altercation that started inside of Tubby's. He was escorted out to the patio where the fight popped off again. Tomlin's girlfriend was trying to break up the fight and ended up catching one. Not a great situation but far from Tomlin beating the hell out of a woman. There's a reason this thing went quickly to diversion. There's no videotape as my understanding is that the police didn't even obtain security footage. Source = A-

See what happens when you let Pac idiots into your conference.  I'd have expected this of Michael Crow and I blame his influence for Linton apparently having developed a very acute case of cranial-rectal inversion where the premier men's sports are concerned.  Prepare for the collapse.  I'll be back in a few years to say "I told you so" after a some of you retards disagree right now.

So, he was on the bench on Tuesday but has to go on Wednesday? That doesn't make any sense. Know what makes sense? Richard Linton had an old bro power trip. You can contact him at 785-532-6221 to ask him about it for yourself.

It's 2023(damn near 2024).  If Nae'Quan Tomlin was in a bar fight in Aggieville, it is on rough ridin' vid a couple of dozen somewheres at very least.

Spitballing /drawing conclusions

Tomlin had issues while he was here. Got to a point that he was suspended/couldn’t play.

He graduated e in Dec. athletic staff wanted to make sure that happened and Gene signed off.

Tubbys fight happened. Students get squirrelly about it thinking bfd happens all the time.

Pres pulls the plug before things spiral.

Klein leaving exacerbates everything.

He was never coming back. Stuck around to graduate. Hopefully there’s a chance that tang and co realize pres/gene had no choice due to chants/booing/protests etc.

This is all possible I guess, but I would add a last point that the whole admin is full of complete dumbasses in the way all of this was handled. I still don't understand why the hell the president was even mentioned or involved at all. Like, I know Tang isn't Bill Self, sure he's a better human being, but that's not the point. There is zero chance the KU president gets involved in something like this with a KU player right? Its all just weird.

I don't know that he should've been reinstated as the rumors were bad (although waks sheds some light on it).  The only thing that changed yesterday though was students being mean to the University President. It's pretty cowardly to kick a player off the team because college students are being mean to you.  If that's how Linton handles dealing with college students, it's pretty reasonable to question his fitness to lead a university.

It wasn't really a story thought until the students started acting up.  They DO NOT want this to be an espn storyline, semester is basically over, pres said, we're done here.

again, I don't know anything other than what i've consumed on message boards and twitter.  This is the only thing that makes sense.

I don't think anyone has "cancer brain" or is trying to micromanage.

i think gene and jerome have tomlin's best interests at heart, but it's close enough to the end, pres doesn't want bad press so cut ties.

Release the report or charge him with additional stuff.  Otherwise, everyone needs to stop speculating that what he did was super awful (whether it involved a girl or not).  Sounds like he went through his legal process and is on diversion.

He should be able to play.

Diversion agreements are not reached lightly.  A diversion specialist determined that Tomlin was unlikely to engage in another offense, so agreed to the diversion.  Not a chance in hell a case like this would get to a university president decision at KU.  The prez apparently does not subscribe to the MCMW philosophy, my question is did he step on Tang's toes in this process?  I trust Tang more than anyone else in this situation, and would be interested in knowing whether he was on board with the dismissal.
