remember that dude who was really good (all big 12) that transferred?  last name of pack.

Honestly not sure he would start on this team

You know how I can tell this team is the exact opposite of any of oscar's teams? It's in the way the players walk. There's kind of a strut. But nothing too cocky. You can see it when you look closely at their asses when they are walking. Don't take my word for it. Look at Dominique Sutton's ass when he walks. Then, compare and contrast!

Honestly none of oscar's players would. Including the two that did last night.

This is true. I would rather have Desi in place of Quis and Ishmael should never see the floor.

That’s definitely the somewhat delicate thing Tang is going to have to manage, Sills is better than Quis.

I sure hope Tang figures out who his best players are.

Because of ESPN+'s refusal to recognize my payment, I missed most of the first half and our best basketball. I was playing catchup the second half in identifying all the new players and even though I was expecting sloppy the team exceeded my expectations the start of the second half. Really liked what I saw of Tomlin and, of course, Colbert.
Another thing. I like the things Tang says ahd the phrases he employs.  Little things like emphasizing two hands on the basketball -- no more of those one-handed lazy passes of Oscar's teams -- not playing the scoreboard in an exhibition, which was kind of aspirational last night, and just the whole focus on rebounding.
Obviously, the team and coaches have a lot of work to do. But I think the talent is there. One of the things I hoped for Tang's first recruiting class was a solid foundation for when the elite talent starts arriving next year. It appears that is the case.

As a point guard? I'm not sure about that, at all. He was 0-5 with 4 fouls. What in the world did you see?

I’m kind of shocked they had a secret scrimmage with Southern Illinois and it was close. Like, they had to comeback to beat them.

I missed this. Who reported on it? Goodman was reporting everyone else's but i maybe missed the Cats.

7 assists and a glowing review from his head coach about him making the offense go.

Maybe something changed last night but people close to the team seem to think that eventually they'll both start with Sills at the 2

Based on the HugeCat smell test, this is who I would like to see starting
#1 Desi Sills 6’2” guard
#2 Keyontae Johnson, 6’6” wing
#3 Nae’Qwan Tomlin 6’8” wing
#4 David N’Guessan, 6’9? wing
#5 Jerrel Colbert 6’10” post

In my IMHO, Those are the five most talented guys we have. This is who I would like to see in the rotation for a total of 10 guys splitting playing time.

#1 Markquis Nowell 5’8” guard
#2-3 Camryn Carter 6’3” wing
#2-3 Tykei Greene 6’4” wing
#3-4 Dorian Finister 6’5” wing
#5 Abayomi Iyiola 6’10” post

It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if Ismael Massoud never saw the floor.

I think that’s right, with Cam coming off the bench.  Cam is probably the best pure scoring guard we have so I could see his minutes cutting into Quis minutes when the combo of he and Desi becomes the clear best lineup as the season goes on.  I feel really comfortable with Greene, Nowell, Sills, and Carter handling the ball, it’s a really nice backcourt with solid depth.

Tomlin is 6’10” 210

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

That is a really good starting 5 for a team built in 3 or so months.

Maybe if Nowell learns to look like he's enjoying himself out there, he can earn some minutes in mop up time.

Actually watched the first half last night and in general enjoyed with how much energy we play with.

The good:
Energy
Length
General unselfishness
Looked like we have fun

The bad:
FT shooting

The ugly:
Turnovers, good lord was that sloppy, but also early
