After seeing the GOP reaction to that indictment. I’m thoroughly convinced if an attack happened to the USA and a Democrat was in the White House that they’d be cheering for the hostile foreign power. Heck the Counterintelligence Report they put out in 2020 and January 6th made clear their position/hatred of Americans and the United States. Not to mention the infamous August 2016 meeting with the infamous quote “you’re trying to screw the Republican nominee” at the White House during the gang of eight meeting.

Here's the thing for me on Trump's motive. Yes, the buffoonery stuff mentioned in the below article is very much a part of his character and totally expected. But isn't profiteering with absolutely zero scruples also very much a part of his character? Also, does the buffoonery actually fully explain the extreme level of possessiveness he exhibits over these documents? A more nefarious motive certainly would fully explain it.

I think he knew the military secrets he stole had definite monetary value to foreign governments but wasn't sure how to monetize it. He also knew his kids and the other straight up grifters he surrounds himself would quickly steal the documents from him if given the chance so he was very wary.

yeah, they read the transcripts of the recorded statements and either deny he said those things OR go into some armchair legal analysis of how the tapes are inadmissible (they are likely admissible).
