Losing Clearance will hurt Trump, unless they find a real nutjob that they can get through the Senate.

Not going to be hard

I think a scenario exists where Trump gets Georgia and Penn and then gets nothing else and stops at 265

That scenario exists. There is also a scenario that exists where the world is flat.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

In the Deep Thoughts thread, someone asked “have you ever just been dead wrong about something?”
I have this unshakable feeling that this election will be the most impactful of my lifetime. I hope I end up being dead wrong about that.

I'm not at all surprised he won the electoral college but I'm fairly shocked that he'll win the popular vote

Yeah, pretty surprising on that.

About as surprising is the polls pretty much nailing the closesness margin wise in the races.

Looks like the total amount of votes was significantly down from the 2020 election.  That surprised me quite a bit.

I don't know how turnout has been impacted by state but there have been a lot of efforts to make it harder to vote by mail and just vote in general. It would be interesting to see how mail-in voting especially changed

Eh you could argue 2016 was a fluke. This wasn't a fluke, it was a real shift.

The Supreme Court has not specifically interpreted the Twenty-Second Amendment to determine whether a president is prohibited from serving more than two terms in total or just two consecutive terms. The amendment clearly states that no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, but it does not explicitly address non-consecutive terms. As such, there is no Supreme Court ruling clarifying this aspect, and the general understanding remains that a president cannot serve more than two terms in total.

Yeah, pretty close of 2016.

Dems seem to have no answers up top but in state question items seem to have the right disposition (see MO on abortion and minimum wage) but I think the stigma of inflation and the general fear over culture war (which I'm basically lumping dei, schools) and immigration seems to have been impossible to distance from.

It was a little my worry seeing the exit poll saying trump would do better for the economy, which if he gets his way will be a disaster, but that's just how inflation was I think the iron weight.

Also just the low energy, clearly the lack of trump signs was not apathy but silence. Also it just never felt even with the switch Kamala had/could bring enough.

Also a bit lol at some people being claiming to be shocked online. Has the last 8 years not taught you anything? I'm not shocked, I am disappointed, and also curious what the play will be for both in 2028. Cause if they do basically implement many of what they want it'll be a wrecked economy, again, and a more disillusioned country but it's what the people wanted!

We’ll see once the turnout is counted. I think I read that it was disappointing.

I mean they'll try but the verbage is

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

That first line is pretty damn cut and dry, regardless of consecutiveness. But hell why trust the supreme Court to agree with that.
