Hickory Hut is fine bbq. I'm not a huge fan of the sauce. It's a bit molassesy for my taste

sausage is passable and The libliblib (1/2 chicken) being their best meat options isn’t ideal but it’s western ks bbq

I went with the rib dinner. Ribs were kind of chewy. Sides (baked beans, fries) were good. Nice collection of photos from the area on display in there. I probably could have spent an hour or more studying the walls.

Tried to go to Taco Grande today. Sign on the door said as of January 20th the location is permanently closed.

Many years back the one in Hays was the Taco Hot Spot.  Top hangout for FHSU BB fans after the game.

The comments under the salina post article agree with you. Never tried it since I never cared for the Abilene one.
Also LOL at people in comments comparing it to La Curva or any of the other sit down places.

Taco Grande was good to great back in the '70s & '80s but in the early '90s, they really went downhill, due to Taco Bell moving in and ruining the neighborhood.

The Taco Grande’s in Hays & Wichita are my favorite food. I loved the one in Abilene until the people that opened this one in Salina bought it & turned it into a knock-off like the Salina one. I did like to go to this one when in Salina though, just as a change. I ended up going to Taco John’s, which I also like. I had so many Taco John’s taco burgers in the mall.

There’s a Taco Tico 20 minutes from my office. I trash can my body there once a month for lunch.
