I love how Ringo intercepted the ball and was like, "okay, I'm running this [redacted] all the way back." Kirby Smart was motioning for him to get down the whole time. Lol.

That defense it just crazy good.

I did not watch this last night but saw that Georgia won.  Congrats on SEC Championship 2.0.

Yeah, it was a good game. And fun. Made up for the lousy semi-final games.

Welp… I’m not planning to watch the championship game.  Hope the ratings hit a new low.
I don’t know how accurate this is, but it definitely appears the interest in the NC game is on a downward ratings trend.

Trend didn't hold. Last night was 2nd most watched championship game behind OSU/Oregon.

With modern tv/streaming, is ever-y-one and what they watch being tracked, or is it still an extrapolation of people with Nielsen boxes or whatever?

I watched the bachelor but also had the game on a 2nd screen to be able to see what was prompting any excitement online. Did that count?

Watched the whole damn thing, and have to admit it was very entertaining and the talent and skill-level on display from both teams was another level than what I’m used to seeing in CFB.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I hate the SEC but that game looked like it was played at a different speed.

Yep. There were more pros on the field at any given moment than any game we’ve watched all year

The 3rd best team this year didn’t even belong on the field with Georgia, pretty wild.

Yes, they still use Nielsen, I am a Nielsen family, boxes and viewing logs. However, they recently recalculated ratings, they can now count streaming too. It's definitely still undercounted though.

You’re the first one I’ve ever known. Do a combofanning thread all about it. I’ve never understood how any of that can possibly work correctly.

For traditional TV you just got a recorder box (Nielsen Box) that told them what you watched.

For streaming, Nielsen embeds software into the systems of partner streaming entities/facilitating devices.

When I want to watch high level talent battle it out, I watch the NFL. Not teams that would get wrecked by the last place team’s 3rd string.

I could be wrong but I think on YTTV you can just opt in and out of Nielsen ratings.

I thought someone on here said it was 2nd highest.  CFB needs a life support with that trend.

The numbers ESPN released said second highest. Maybe not very trustworthy.

They're two different numbers, ESPN took the peak viewership number, this is the average. ESPN also likely counted The numbers on all the mega cast channels, this reflects the ESPN broadcast only. The average is used for final ratings.

Also college football ratings are just fine, not needing any life support or anything else. Yes, they numbers are physically smaller but viewership has changed, fewer viewers & ratings for everything you watch on television, especially cable TV. At the end of the year, this will be the highest rated show on cable television and it will end up in the overall top 20 and the highest rated non NFL broadcast.

The NFL and college football absolutely own television ratings.

This season's title game was lower-tier, but still in the realm of normalcy for title games.

The Super Bowl is an otherworldy beast.

The Super Bowl has managed to basically become a holiday where people gather and tune in regardless of any interest or intention to watch. It’s quite a place to be ratings wise.
