I think we should halt our ag developments until we're given AAU status. Let us in or the whole world starves to death. Your move AAU dudes.

Spracne's impending banishment truly saddens me.  He is the second best poster on this blog behind Tom.

KU is one of the lowest ranked academic schools  and one of lowest ranked research expenditure schools in the AAU.

KU still has a 90% plus acceptance rate.

We have a mission to educate the young men and women with promise in the State of Kansas and to equip them with the tools to become their best selves. It is not the fault of Kansas University that so few young men and women of promise exist in Kansas.
My winning smile and can-do attitude.

Sadly most KU people don’t recognize the state.  Yet shockingly after looking at the alumni numbers, a massive amount of alums live within an hour of Lawrence.

Insert anecdotal I was in a bar in Chicago story here.

Just a very very mediocre run of the mill state public university.

A big barrier to KSU  advancing in academic status is our role as a land grant university tasked with advancing agricultural and engineering education within the state of Kansas, while KU carries no such burden.  It's a structural thing.  While I respect KU's academic status, it's not nearly as impressive as you and fellow KU fans believe, and are completely ignorant of KSU's world wide reputation in agricultural research that affect the future of the planet more than anything KU is doing, including the near independent research at your medical center.  Congrats on your anthropology and related studies, but they are not earth-shaking.

BTW, AAU status is not driving footba!l or conference realignment.

deputy dawg, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this blog is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

On par with "flagship", " elite", and other self congratulatory language in your original post.

I went to K-State for mechanical engineering. I've also spent significant time on a variety of campuses recruiting interns and full time employees for the companies that I've worked for. Not goEMAW-ing here, KU's college of engineering is by far, the worst I have ever experienced. K-State, Wichita State, Okie State, Missouri-Rolla, Colorado School of Mines... all are graduating students that are head and shoulders above anything KU is producing.

That AAU status isn't doing a damn thing for them and I legitimately feel bad for the students who go there because just about all of them have no clue what they've been robbed of and can't figure out why they're not getting the better internships, full time jobs, or advancement upon graduation.

I also graduated with a bsme degree. Suffice it to say, I lowered the quality of my graduating class.

I honestly still have no idea what AAU is. Googling leads you to the Amateur Athletic Association, which doesn’t seem right. Interestingly I have only really seen the term used in the context of Big 10 athletics.
