In 1984, in an era when folks around the world were moved by the plight of starving folks in Ethiopia, Bob Geldof decided to record a charity-single-bop just in time for Christmas featuring some of the UK's biggest celebrities of the time; like Sting, Phil Collins, Simon Le Bon, Bono, George Michael, Boy George and many others. The result is a holiday charity song that we all know and love:
