I grew up like right next to NM. I’m confused by the appeal for anyone. Hot, dry, weirdos.

there's more to the state.
Like what?

the montane half circle from las vegas/santa fe north is nice.  the mountains north and east of silver city are one of my favorite places in the united states.

the bootheel and the guadalupe mountains are also really cool places, although i probably wouldn't be that interested in living in those areas.

An Independence Day tradition in the Nicname household.

States: AZ (phx), And I generally like any place that isn’t too muggy
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

The mountains in northern nm are great. Red River area. I think it’s called the enchanted circle or something. Also, Blake’s Lotta Burger > basically any burger

sd, on monday check out the fancy new mexico hyatt resort on the bachelorette. It’s the sprawling set of mud-reddish buildings that are a slightly different shade of mud red than ever-y-thing around it.

People that live up by the Canadian border drive snowmobiles around in the winter instead of cars. Sounds cool to me!

Also, they drink a lot.

If things go according to my plan, we will live 6 months of the year in Northern MN, and 6 months no farther North than Kansas.

Are you me?

I have not visited many places. But my guess would be Montana or Northern Cali.

Yup, all those are great in NM, ABQ is alright, but there are lots of cool places outside of the eastern 1/3ish of the state.

That being said, CO would be slightly above for me because in my mind being in Durango/Silverton area would be ideal, and I visited those places a ton when I worked a lot in the four corners area. For me CO is up the list a lot, but it's basically western side, Telluride on down. I seriously loved Durango so, so much.

Can confirm the part about Blake's.  :lick:  Had it for the first time last winter.

Also visited Ruidoso and that's a lowkey great place.

i like NM and don't wanna move but I'd take CO or San Diego if the perfect opportunity presented itself

also if SD is talking about the eastern half of the state (i.e., the part he grew up next to), yeah, it's pretty bumfuck. i dig albuquerque though and northern NM is gorgeous. can also provide recommendos for southern NM, although i don't really recommend living there unless you don't mind not having a lot going on most of the time. ruidoso and cloudcroft are alright depending on what you want out of life.

I think New Mexico would be good assuming it had water in 10 years.

yeah this and forest fires are the biggest concerns. the rio grande ran dry in ABQ this year for the first time in forever. the mountains up in CO aren't getting snow like they used to anymore. but i mean climate-wise everywhere's probably mumped in some capacity or another anyway so :dunno:

LMAO at all the Colorado answers.

yeah i love visiting but most of the state is crowded and/or expensive as all eff, and the places where it isn't either don't have any jobs (Walsenburg/Trinidad) or any scenery whatsoever (everything east of the front range)

Same. My brother lived in Alamosa for 2 years and then in Durango/Bayfield for about 6. I
The Durango area is about as good as you can get.

I'm irl going to wait to decide where until I'm ready to move because I'll need to see where there aren't a bunch of other people when the time comes.

Maybe take it to the shame thread, but I think Chicago is way overrated. I guess I just don't get that city. It's cool and all, but I'd never want to live there. Been there a crap load of times & it's never been like: "OMG, I GOTTA LIVE HERE!".

It blows
