I think of populism as telling the masses that all of their problems are the fault of some other group of people and also telling them that they need you to fix it.

It also applies to Trumpism.
I want to fight to save the word populist but I don’t have the energy and patience of Thomas Frank, so I’ll just let him worry about it.
