I'm curious if you told your dad and got a great dad response?   I'd bet on "Tastes fine to me"

After he looked at the date on the bottle, shrugged his shoulders, and said eff it.

Even better. I get home and he’s at the dinner table aggressively eating his dinner salad. Usually he’s very vocal about his food ... “mmmm... oh that’s good.” That kind of stuff. This time, nothing.

I sit down to watch TV and a few minutes later he says “guys, that kroger 1000 island you have in your fridge. It tastes.... off.”

“I didn’t even know we had any 1000 island,” I tell him. “Was it opened?”

He says “No, it looked brand new. Unopened.....” then says, “It was kind of dark tho.”

I go into the kitchen and see the evidence.

I holler at him “Stop eating that salad dad!”

I’m entering the dining room as he responds. His plate completely empty, “Oh, I powered thru it. I guess I just gave myself food poisoning again.”

Lmao. He was fine tho.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Ha, that is awesome.  He must have an iron gut.

Reminds me of a coworker I once had.  Had a roommate that didn't believe in refrigerating food.  He would make chicken, or whatever, and just store the leftovers in a cupboard.  When he got hungry, he would just take it out of the cupboard and eat it straight out of the container it was in.

Never got sick.

I've been known to hoard ketchup packs from Wendy's with the thought that I would eventually use them for camping.

Every time I try to hoard things like that, my wife throws them away.

My wife usually monitors the contents of the fridge closely but she is somehow tolerant of my ketchup hoarding.

If it's in a cup (like ranch from bdubs), she'll leave it alone.  If it's a packet, it's gone.

I would really like to hoard some taco bell fire sauce.  Just doesn't work out.

Maybe I should get some little plastic cups and transfer material from packets to cups.  Hmmm.

I decided to clean up the side door pocket in the fridge today.  KFC,  Arby's, Taco Bell, Long John's, Panda Express...  I have no idea where Captain D's came from.  Mrs 8 had already grabbed the Cane sauce from the pile.

None of these have an expiration date.

You ever go to a game at Mo West? Maybe you pulled off the belt and grabbed some captain D's there. Only one I've ever seen.

There are 4 in the main KC metro and 1 in the northland! I had a convo with someone not from here and I was like we don’t have those here. To my surprise we have a few!

got some chobani flips for my 9 year old yesterday, just gave her one just now, exp date said 9/7/21.  was mad i didn't look closer when i got them.  i told her it was expired.  she stirred it up, took a bite and said "it's fine".  kinda proud.

I made some pizza the other night but couldn't find any parmesan cheese. I checked the random drawer that every kitchen has where there are random packets of sauces etc and found a packet of parmesan that expired in 2018.

I opened it up and was ready to give it a shot but couldn't pull the trigger, it was light yellow and had the consistency of wet clumpy sand.
