It is crazy how not a single one of the magas is using "election fraud" or "we can't audit the votes so I had a right to rise up against Herr Garland" defense but has opted for the "i wear a t-shirt into the pool and the highest paying job i've ever had was uber eats during covid.  I have no children and actually only have sex when a sympathetic relative pays for it" defense.

Concerted effort/quality defense

Imagine the other draft proposals from other administrations.  Like arresting US citizens and holding them indefinitely without charge or assassinating  American citizens as a matter of national policy.  Oh, wait . . .

There’s literally all kinds of plans to blow up the entire world.

He's not defending them AT ALL. He's pointing and laughing at Herr Garland, #blueanon nation, and Herr Garland's stormtroopers bringing the full weight of the mighty US government down on a bunch of dorks who took a stroll through the Capitol and snapped some selfies. Try to keep up.

Big fan of the phrase "make your plums swell"

You got to hand it to him... you might find him a bit loony, but the man (Dax) can sure BBS with the best of 'em.

These Missouri "patriots" make me LOL  Their direct quotes after getting pinched, they sound like those pedos who get caught by Chris Hansen.

https://www.kansascity.com/news/state/missouri/article257763628.html

Quote
“My wife and I went to Washington, D.C., to hear former President Trump and the guest speakers. We had no intention of interfering with the Congressional proceedings. We saw the crowd and got caught up and followed them up to the building.

“I was caught up in President Trump telling everybody that this election got stolen and he had kind of everybody enraged,” Zachary Wilson said. “We didn’t even have any idea that we were gonna do a march. We thought we were just there for the speech. And then when he said, ‘Yeah, turn around and march,’ and everybody’s like, ‘Yeah, march.’ And he’d already had everybody so worked up that when we got up there I just reacted wrongly. I really feel stupid, to be honest.”

“I know what I did on January sixth was wrong,” she said. “We got caught up in everything that had been happening over the last year and we got swept up in the crowd. And I’m deeply and truly sorry and embarrassed for my actions that day.”

“I’ve already lost not one but two jobs because of my actions that day and my family is struggling,” she said. “My family is truly sorry for the embarrassment that we brought on our country, and we will definitely pay for this for the rest of our lives.”

“I think a lot of it just had to do with seeing everything over the summer…seeing cities burn and people divided for the last several years and then getting there and getting caught up in the crowd. It was a stupid mistake.”

Gotta slip the real reason they did it.  Springfield judge bailing them out

Quote
Mehta told the couple that in many ways, they victimized themselves. “You were told lies about election fraud, about your country being taken from you,” he said. “They were lies. And regrettably, you believed them. And you acted on that.” However, he added, “I think you are decent, hard-working Americans who regrettably were caught up in something I think if you could do again, I genuinely believe you would not.” He noted that the couple had overcome difficult pasts and tried to make their lives better for them and their children. “I think the hardest part of all of this, frankly…is what you all have endured so far and the fact that you are going to have to explain to your kids what happened that day and how their parents got caught up in something that they shouldn’t have,” he said.

The "I am a total impotent moron who is easily fooled and was a virgin until I was 35" defense is tried and true.

Good for Pence. The linked video ends before my favorite remark, which was something like "If we ignore the Constitution, we won't just lose elections, we'll lose our country."

Agreed. He also criticized the RNC for censuring Kinzinger and Cheney. Sounds like the words of a Republican who plans to retire before the end of 2024.

I guess Mitch doesn't want to be Senate Majority Leader anymore? Or he feels foolishly  confident that Trump wave isn't coming this fall.

Yeah this is likely wishful thinking but McConnell is a pure politician. I find it much more believable that he thinks he’ll be more powerful taking this stance than that he suddenly got a moral compass.

Everyone still hoping some authority or institution is going to come in and finally get Trump?

I remember when people thought Robert Mueller was going to deal with him.  No one is coming.

It doesn't mean Trump is good. It doesn't deserve mean Trump wouldn't deserve some sort of punishment, but nothing is going to happen.

The sooner that people reckon with that and what that means, the better.
