my wife follows the Instant Pot Community on facebook and it is absolutely one of the most savage places i have seen on the internet. Does Air Fryer have a community?

Because of ease of use and cleaning, I'm going to go with the air fryer. I haven't used the instant pot, it's my wife's thing and tbh it sort of intimidates me. I also seem to always get stuck cleaning it and it's 15 billion small parts. Air fryer, just a basin and a one piece grate.

The instant pot is probably it for our generation but it irritates me, because while it does lots of things, it does most of them fairly poorly. It’s a mediocre pressure cooker, low quality rice cooker, bad “searing” surface, garbage sous vide application, and so on.  It’s good for slow cooking beans and crap.  It’s a crock pot 2.0

Edit: it’s a great cooking tool for people who don’t like to cook... Mrs. 8mp uses it all the time

are those the things that clip onto a pot of water and maintain the temp? Other than like better pyrex measuring cups, one of those things is probably the next gadget I want.

But I've heard good things about air fryers too, may take a look.

in my gigantic brain i have conceptualized the gadget that i am confident will end up being the gadget of our generation. Imagine the following scenario:

you're enjoying a delicious bowl of soup or maybe pudding or something. You finish and look down and there's still some left in the bowl because your stupid spoon is incredibly stupid and inefficient. well ladies and gentlemen...the spoontula. its the size and shape of a spoon but the rim is flexible silicone so you can get every last bit out of the bowl w/o doing that thing where you put your face in the bowl and lick it like a 4 year old.

I walked away from my family's gift exchange last year with a mini air fryer.  I love it and use it all the time, so the air fryer has my vote.

Yeah, ziplocs work fine for 99% of things

You're supposed to take all of those little pieces off the lid when you clean it, the stream gets inside of those seams and I'd presume would cause mildew.

I only personally know a few people who cook professionally and they are probably the biggest instant pot fanbois I know.

Although to be a fair I imagine someone who cooks for a living probably doesn’t like doing it so much at home.

Air Fryer def. Instant pot is fine, but gets hyped by lying to everyone about how fast it cooks stuff. "You can cook a whole cow in 39 seconds"!!!!!!!!.........After the 20 minutes it takes to come to pressure and the 12 minutes after that for "natural release" the whole cow recipe requires. Plus you are fracked if your stuff isn't quite done after you open it and then you have to repeat the previous 45 minutes of steps.
