Agreed. Was/still hoping that next week vs Houston but they seem to be more salty now. If we do this to them I'll feel cautiously optimistic vs Texas.

i think i like the alternating thing. i think they'll play often enough not to get out of rhythm, and we can just go with whoever can exploit the defense better. and we can use them more situationally too instead of alternating drives. better than just ride or dying with one like vs osu. at this point they're pretty equal, yesterday howard was better. feel like our 5th year senior is more inconsistent than our true freshman though, which is pretty silly. also defenses have to prepare for 2 different styles.

It's ultimately what did them in. Having to constantly adjust to two very different styles while we are very ok with going between two styles makes it very hard on a defense. Very hard.

Also has anyone seen a game where the QBs alternated each drive the entire game? I don't think I have because it's usually done with two shaky QBs and not two pretty solid but different options

The color guy made a great point after they sacked Johnson while he was trying to throw the ball away. Avery saw the DL pursuing him, but simply misjudged how long he could hang before attempting to separate for enough time to scramble and throw, or get the edge and take off.

Sooner than later he'll judge that spot correctly and instinctively, and he will buy that time and/or take off.

As a kid, I watched Tom Landry rotate two QB’s. In one game, he alternated them every play. Craig Morton and Roger Staubach. Morton took the Cowboys to the SB but lost to the Colts. Eventually, the Cowboys traded Morton to Denver. He led Denver to a SB. Against the Cowboys and Staubach. But Morton’s knees were shot and the cowboy front four in those days was just unreal. Lily, Pugh, Too Tall Jones and Randy White. Knocked Morton out of the game.

Anyway, that’s the only rotational QB thing I’ve ever seen. And it was more extreme than what we are currently seeing.

Exactly.  Just looked like something he was used to being able to do in HS that he won’t be able to get away with in college.  Plus the delay of game immediately after. 

 Love that that learning moment happened in garbage time.
