We never fail to saddle up with the worst of the worst.

A mentally incapacitated neocon surrounded by perpetual war neocons

https://theintercept.com/2024/03/25/biden-equatorial-guinea-teodoro-obiang-aid/

Maybe if our Department of State was more diplomatic, our relations with other African countries would be better, but all they are these days is a giant ball of threats.

Even worse, some of the countries where we are losing a foothold because of coups . . . some of the coup plotters were trained by the United State. Reminiscent of DOD backed "moderate rebels" fighting against CIA backed "moderated rebels" in Syria. Moderate Rebels = Hardcore fundamentalist jihadists, of course.

To stave off the Chinese.

Why are we in a position to have to manufacture "warm relations" with that thug/kleptodicator? Edit: I should say this most current thug/keptodictator

Chi-com Joe is taking steps to help limit Chinese influence on the continent?

Some things are just window dressing, Lick.

If Xi's little piss boy was that worried about what the Chi-Coms are doing, then he should start in our own hemisphere, and he should stop implementing policies in various arenas that play right into Chinese manufacturing hands. Also take all the ridiculous virtue signaling mandates off the semiconductor initiatives that have manufacturers on the cusp of telling his administration to pound sand. He should also quit providing incentives to Chinese manufacturing in the United States (as has been documented on this blog).

I appreciate the fact that you aren't recognizing that we have mumped things up so bad in other parts of Africa that we're now having to scrape the very bottom of the barrel . . . again.

Your trying to turn this around to some sort of praise for Biden, when in reality, they've put themselves into a position where they have no other choice.

You of course will avoid everything else I've said.

The act itself as far as I've read only includes the standard GSA contract provisions that have been around for decades and some broad brush additional mandates.

As far as I can see, the act itself contains none of the very specific provisions and their own self interpretation of the act that Joe's bureaucrats have piled on that have the manufactures ready to walk away.

You've tackled one micro issue of a whole list of broader issues that I've brought up, because you're going to try and nuance this away from being another Biden admin crap show.

Also still avoiding every other thing I've brought up, as expected.

Also Lick, lets get back to theme of the day.

The Chinese have once again exposed this administration and now the Chinese can go to any country in Africa and tell them the United States talks out of every side of their month and are willing to drop everything they say they stand for at the first hint that a Geo-strategic rival like us might want something for, in or with your country.

Xi is playing your boy like a Stradivarius

1 - aren't the 52 billion dollars of subsidies a significant step to repatriating production?

2 - do you believe that IMEC was a more coordinated response to the Belt and Road Initiative than occurred under Trump?

         * what steps under Trump do you felt were set up to counter B&R?

Item 1: That has nothing to do with why chip companies are pissed off with this administrations ridiculous CHIP act interpretive mandates.  To the point that they have sought alternative paths in other countries. You're up there in the 40,000 foot view glossy brochures and I'm down in the weeds.

Item 2: Turkey already competing against, is there anything even happening? Meanwhile (one example) the Chinese control Panama. IMEC: Effectively on Ice (Bloomberg)

Oh Lick, just stop

yes the situation in GAZA has sidelined IMEC for the moment much like COVID slowed down B&R

Turkey is upset because of their lack of inclusion

It is though a coordinated response that we previously lacked

So in other words, a whole bunch of nothing at this point, but your boy attempted to take some victory laps as expected.

Still avoiding everything else I've brought up while bringing up things that at this point aren't worth the paper they're written on.

IMEC may prove to never bear fruit, no argument.

I do believe that it is the first coordinated response to B&R (China's largest soft power projection of our lifetime)

MOU's from my experience are excruciatingly toothless and only done to end the conversation while making everyone believe they've accomplished something.

Let us know when the contracts are signed, and the concrete and steel are going down, in and up, Lick. I suggest no one hold their breath.

Oh Lick, just stop

This is absolutely true (I have no first hand knowledge of CHIPS application but conceptually have no problems attaching strings to 52 billion in subsidy)

From 40,000 feet it seems like a positive development for domestic production that GlobalFoundries, Intel, Microchip, and BAE Systems have already received CHIPS Act money and TSMC is expected to next.

TSMC had to fly in people from overseas, around 500, because of all the interpretive rules the Biden bureaucrats put in . . .

As one pundit put it, all the rules are akin to entering a fishing contest and then being told you can't fish where everyone knows the fish are located.

Stole, left behind - all the same with Pedo Pete’s DOJ
