If a case had proceeded rather than hunter pleading guilty to a diversion, it would've been correct on a couple fronts for the defense attorneys to use a defense based on recent case law that helps.

1) Obviously if it helps, that's good and what they're tasked to do.

2) If this case law that pew-pew advocates were excited about ended up being prominently used to help one of their mortal enemies, that would reinforce their enemies' pitch about how bad that case law is for society.

Again, a major attaboy to our resident (alleged) legal eagles who have taken the obvious and known horse and turned it into a pile of glue.

That changes nothing about the son of the most (virtual signaling) anti-gun President in modern American history walking into court and using the power of the 2nd Amendment and relevant (recent) case law to get Federal gun law charges against Son of Pedo Pete reduced/dropped/thrown out entirely and the political optics thereof.
