10/22 debate thread
« on: October 22, 2020, 08:13:12 PM »
Has there ever, in the history of American debates, been anyone else lie in the very first sentence of a debate?

didn't watch the last debate, but trump seems pretty disciplined in this one.  praising fauci, etc.

He's doing much better, actually not acting like an animal and because of it he will be declared the winner of this debate. He's working off of the steepest grading curve in the history of the world. Doesn't matter that this is just a steady stream of misinformation, he isn't foaming out of the mouth, so he wins.

Joe has been steadier this debate. However, like last debate, he's given red meat and doesn't pounce on it.

Trump is starting to flail a bit, imo.

The most stark (starkest?) contrast that sticks out to me between one shitbag and one good human being was how heated and passionate Joe got about kids at the border who can’t be reunited with their parents. Meanwhile Trump just sits there shrugging and making faces that make him look like the Pout-Pout Fish.

Yeah, I was shocked he waited until the race topic to bring up that the Hunter Biden laptop stuff is Russian disinformation, they only talked about that an hour ago.

YOOOOOO, Biden said "there are 500 kids who won't see their parents again" that [redacted] said "good."

I'm disappointed but not surprised that Biden didn't move the race conversation beyond the topic of crime and the crime bill. Of course trump went there, Biden should have just said "I didn't use the term super predators, and I was wrong on the crime bill" then moved on to other aspects of inequity. He did admit he was wrong at the end of the conversation but it never moved passed the crime bill.

I caught that too. I don't think Trump was responding to what Joe said, but it was still a  :horrorsurprise:

Trump's pathetic Biden impersonations are annoying.

I rewound.  Took twice but he definitely said "go on" to the moderator telling her to ask the next question.

I think this debate crystallized what we know about these guys, they are both awful presidential candidates, just brutal. The difference here is one of these men is a good man whereas the other is just a despicable human being, total waste of space and air.

She was good. Let them get an extra word in and, for the most part, didn't let it get too out of control.

That oil answer was an unmitigated disaster for Biden, what an absolute stupid time to trotting that out.

I liked when biden said trump was confused about who he's running against and reminded everyone he's up there because he beat the socialists.

He spent a good two minutes on it. Will hurt in Texas, I imagine.

Yeah they are both just laughably bad. Trump is a horrible human and with Biden I felt like I was watching a 11 month old trying to walk across the room for the first time and just hoping he doesn’t hit his head on something hard.
