I have no idea how team scoring works in swimming.

It's a track meet in the water

I'm sure it varies by state and league but my daughter has both dual meets (against one other team and aren't like most track meets) and bigger meets that have many teams and heats and are very similar to track meets. Dual meets are about a billion times better because they're usually after school and fast paced (one heat per event). The bigger meets are so boring

are you baseball parents familiar with Pottstown Scout Team? basically like a social media driven travel ball team that are all probably millionaires because of it now? and recruit nationally like a college? anyway, such a bizarre deal. we ran into them at the CWS and I had no idea who they were and lil sd did and was talking to them and got a pic with some of them. then I looked into it and lmao all that should be illegal for sure but with NIL in college and whatever what the eff can you do at this point. nice kids though. forgot about it until just now going through some baseball pics.

lil sd's severs disease got so bad his ortho PT said we need to shut down basketball if we want to be ready for baseball season. so we're pulling him out for a couple weeks, having him evaluated after a couple down weeks, and then either calling it a hoops season or trying to get back out there to end the season. he'll be at all practices but can't run or jump. pretty brutal. thankfully he gave me the all clear to have him throw and hit for baseball because we're going three days a week for it.

That sucks man. Basketball is a pretty stupid sport so hopefully that is all he misses out on. Still feel bad for the lil dude missing out. We just started back hitting. Once a week for now, but i'm going to get him an extra day somewhere. Lil SF is a ridiculously slow starter so hopefully some extra swings in the winter will get him on track sooner for spring.

Also, SD, can I get your opinion on a new stick? I'm way cheaper than you so i'm not interesting in the latest and greatest. He is currently swinging an older hype model 29 drop 10. He dropped that half way last year and borrowed a 30 drop 10 Zoa with some success. He's still pretty small so I don't think I want him to move to a 31 plus this is prob his last year of competitive baseball so no reason to think about next year right now. Questions. I'm prob stuck on 30in, but i'm debating drop 10 or 8. Coach suggested 8, but Lil SF was nervous about using a bat 3 ounces heavier. Also, since he currently has a 29 -10, I prob want him caging the new one ASAP to get used to it. I don't want him practicing all off season with a shorter lighter bat and then using the new one.  It will prob also be the bat he uses in the early season when it's cold. What is your opinion on this one or do you have a better suggestion? Also, if you don't care at all about this and want to ignore, feel free. TIA

We have the connect in both 31” and 30” drop 8 (one white and one vice). It’s good. My advice would be to avoid the 31” until 12U at the earliest and more likely 13U. An extra inch swings way heavier than the extra ounces. I always encourage kids to go -8 at 11U and 12U at the latest. Want to start being able to work in -5 during 13U so you aren’t sucking crap in 14U when you’re trying out.

lil sd's hitting coach's kid was drafted second round this draft out of the HS we feed to. obviously that's an outlier but it's really good to work with him. he talks a lot about how these kids that get there are kids that do it on their own. parents can pay hundreds of thousands for the best training on the planet but if the kid wants to do it they'll either do it or not on their own.
