I'm amazed at how many teams give away outs with bad baserunning. Most of the time play for the big inning unless its later innings.

yep, and you're likely going to get a passed ball/wild pitch eventually anyway at this age

Second base is a steal fest until 13u when the bases move to 80 feet. Only the very best batteries can stop kids from stealing at 60 or less. Good catchers can get a lot of guys with a good snap throw at the corners at 60 or less tho, and can also stop guys from stealing 3rd Willy nilly.

yep. I am 1B coach and steal a lot of doubles from our boys playing it safe because I know we're getting to 2B either way. they hate my guts.

Can't do a double celly if you get cut off at 1B

our big 1B blew through my "STAY!" instructions last weekend and almost got hosed at 2B and then he rubbed it in my face that he made it. flexed up his giant hamhock of an arm at second and pointed at it (our team extra base hit celly).

We pick kids off all the time. 2 of our kids have really great moves to first and second. We were in a tournament once and after picking off like the 5th kid, the head coach walked out on the field to loudly announce that there were no more lead offs the rest of the game. They were a good team too.

Best move is the balk move.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

We have a lefty who is deadly. We will sometimes show his “fake” move the first time he gets a guy on. Real move is guaranteed pickle.

Here’s lil sd’s 2024 hardware collection with one tourney to go. caveat what I said earlier about travel ball making it rain hardware though, we did not win all these tournaments.

We did a tour a few years ago and the lady had one on and let Lil SF try it on and take some pics. They are so ridiculously huge, but it was pretty awesome for him to get to put one on.

I just read an article about a softball team that won the "USSSA 18B KS/MO State Softball Tournament". How do you have a KS/MO State Tournament? That is like two states. Every travel ball parent in my Facebook feed has a kid who has won the state tournament. Sometimes they win a state tournament in 3 consecutive weekends....

That’s common. We do a “Battle of the Borders” USSSA state tournament with NE and IA early each year. Every state has their own USSSA director and can do what they want.

Must be ECNL nationals. This is legitimately a pretty big deal, compatibly speaking.

Not sure which pitch that was but based on us run ruling them in three innings and the 8 SOs almost certainly.

Here’s another one. When we have no runners on he goes right leg kickstand way out to the side. Looks pretty sick.

Thankfully I never have either. between coaches or umpires. Have seen a couple close ones with fans though. It’s always moms that start that nonsense. Once had kids get into it in the handshake line because one called the other “trash” but was shoving and not punches.

Never seen anything like it. Worst I've seen is guys following umpires to the parking lot to confront them. In officiating I'd say 95% of people are cool. Also parents and coaches for whatever reason are worse at younger kid ages than when you get up to teenage kids.
