Like numerous studies continue to say.   The "cure" for the virus is on its way to being worse than the virus itself.   But political control is political control and CoronaBros do the most whining.

Please provide said studies.

What political reason do you think is behind limiting crowd sizes?

I've provided them in this thread, just today.

Pay attention

Yeah that study didn't conclude what you just inferred which is why I asked.

My wife says they've had difficulty finding places to cremate dead patients up here too

What on earth is the point of regulating cremations if you’re going to suspend the regs whenever a lot of people die?

A state with some of the toughest lockdown measures.

Similar headline here today.  Read the article . . . and homicides and drug overdose deaths setting all time records  :frown:.    But you'd never know that reading the headline.

I think that problem might be unique to California. Here people on NextDoor aren't reporting many problems.

Fellas we might all be vaxxed by March if Gottlieb is right that only 120 million people want to get it.  Unfortunately, our kids are screwed bc we aren’t getting to herd immunity.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Curious what the models say as far as people who don’t believe in vaccines but have been careful/lucky enough to not get infected yet.

I don’t know many, but the anti-vaxxers I do know have already gotten COVID.

This also aligns with Scott's prediction that by the end of the month, we'll have 10% chipped and 30% natural immunity which will slow the prevalence.  US is at 14M now and chipping at a million a day clip.

Bob could be a little more precise and a lot less condescending with his suggestion that people without a medical degree aren’t good at weighing risks and benefits.

But I guess I shouldn’t be too critical since most people including MDs aren’t trained in communication like I am. Doesn’t come naturally to them. Kind of like gorillas using sign language.

Huh I didn't think it was condescending at all, and I went to KSU so I am very sensitive to condescension. He's saying it isn't natural for non-MD's even now to go to the store and calculate the odds of getting covid, which is reasonable. (TBH most MD's probably don't either - if anything he thinks too highly of his colleagues). But I can see where you're coming from.

The thread's still worth a read if you can get past the first tweet

Clearly a lack of effort and planning by the Brazilian government.

As we once again realize that the virus doesn't rough ridin' care about politics.

The virus should be done with Manaus. Yet hospitals were filling up again. “It was hard to reconcile these two things,” Faria says. He started to hunt for samples he could sequence to find out whether changes in the virus could explain the resurgence.

I did read it which is mainly what informed my take. His points are well taken, but mainly they’re just logic based on a couple of stats (efficacy of masks/Pfizer dose 1/dose 2), which should not at all be foreign to really any human being.

I think the time factor is one not many think about, along with local preference rates and even indoors vs outdoors. Or at least they're wilfully ignorant.
