I know this has been billed as a two dose vaccine but with the data coming out, double edged sword on people not getting the 2nd dose (which is always a challenge to get people to come back).  On one hand it seems to work pretty well in one dose but it's maybe not that 95% effectiveness.  Wonder if there has been much discussion of doing only one dose to maximize coverage?

Everyone doesn't have to be immune to kill it off.  I am not sure it even needs 70%.  I know that is the concept of herd immunity but completely extincting this thing would be pretty damn boner worthy

herd immunity using a vaccine to get you there is very reasonable like you describe.  The whole "herd immunity is dangerous" came from the idea that we could naturally get there.

yeah, that's interesting.  could be a lot of benefit in putting off the second booster for a few months.

saw a discussion on the topic a couple days back.  aside from the difficulties in getting enough of the human population immune, the virus can infect quite a few species of animals, including domestic animals.  makes complete complete eradication seem pretty unlikely.

Are there any public datasets out there that show infection data demographics?  I'd be interested in seeing how this has moved around different cohorts over time.  I know I've see age bands and race bands but those have mostly been point in time.  I'd like to see zip codes / age / race / etc. daily from February forward.  Would be fun data to break down.

yeah, I think trump being an insane conspiriacy theorist and promoting HCQ is much worse than not getting gouged by Pfizer.  They got enough for the frontline/high risk.  There are others in the pipeline that WERE DVELOPED WITH TAX DOLLARS SO MUCH CHEPER.

yeah, I think trump being an insane conspiriacy theorist and promoting HCQ is much worse than not getting gouged by Pfizer.  They got enough for the frontline/high risk.  There are others in the pipeline that WERE DVELOPED WITH TAX DOLLARS SO MUCH CHEPER.

I don't see this as a biggie

Assuming they work it won't be as big of a deal except pushes my day of getting a shot in the arm that much later.  Ethically big rich USA should do the logistical heavy lifting though for the good of the world.  An easier to transport vaccine should be there for those countries that can't do the logistics as well.
