Someone in that thread brought up a good point.   Right now the profitability for hospitals is in Covid.  So is that impacting hospital admittance rates?

Anecdotally,  there's a large hospital and campus just down the road, and that campus is a ghost town.   My wife had to go to an appointment there only after it was determined via tele-medicine that she had to go in.   She said outpatient, elective areas, and medical practice suites were 80% below the norm.  The only building with any activity that appeared near normal was Oncology out-patient treatment.

First of all, it's the Imperial College.

2nd, the comments section only affirms that there's people who will only be satisfied if the response is full blown Martial Law.  Anything less in their mind is advocating mass murder.

I do agree with the sentiment that people need to put on a rough ridin' mask when they're out in public.

I second all of this. I do more than my fair share of trying to rile you up but stay safe out there.

And here we see how dax brings his hair brained rants into this blog. He reads the most insane responses on Twitter and takes them as the default position of "the left". Dude you have to stop doing that to yourself.

"There's People" does not mean the "The Left" as in the whole left, or anywhere close to the whole.

Thanks, Phil.  But I don't view rising numbers as immediately indicative of not being on top of it.   It could be the exact opposite from a medical response perspective.

I've already told people that we're going to get locked down again if people don't change their habits.  I personally believe that ADPH has done a very admirable job, changing mindsets of personal responsibility is a different story.

I can think of numerous reasons that the Montgomery area is seeing a spike that range from irresponsible personal behavior, to vectoring via converging Interstate corridors, to demographics, to the funnel impact of lacking acute care in rural areas - an issue which many states face etc. etc.

I don't think there will be a full on lock down again.  I just don't see it.  It will have to get incredibly gnarly

Hopefully not.  We have not made it to Dauphin Island.  We were about to book a trip and then the RONA hit, it looks pretty cool.

Maybe the only time would be in fall/winter when the regular flu stuff starts going up.  Idk tho, nothing is really for sure anymore with this tho.

I don't, either. It would be too hard on businesses, and if we end up needing another lockdown, too many people will see the last lockdown as being ineffective. I expect this coming flu season to be brutal, and everyone should get their flu shot in September to reduce the risk of needing to go to the hospital. Areas getting hit hard right now might actually be better off than those that aren't, assuming a larger number of them will have some level of immunity.

I expect there will be some sort of government-enforced reduced activity somewhere in the country until a vaccine to go along with the voluntary reduced activity.

I don't think "lockdowns" will look like what we saw in April ever again though since we know more about the virus now and hopefully we'll get a little better at screening.

And you know what would be amazing between now and the fall that doesn't get talked about enough? mandatory nationwide paid sick leave.

Last week a buddy came over for some patio beers and we decided we were going to drive to gulf shores, rent a beach house for a week and WFH out there. "Yeah dude, I'm in" "Lets do this!"

We were supposed to follow up on it the next day when sober but that never happened.

The recovery numbers of this treatment seem to be off the charts. I wonder why it isn't more widespread, maybe it will get wider use during the second wave. Possibly the only thing Iowa is doing well with regard to COVID-19, keep the governor away.
