The NYT has actually been criticized A LOT for articles that portray exclusively conservatives as regular Americans. Some of these people are later found out to be plants from conservative organizations.

Can someone give me a "jerk %" if I do the following.  I'm all for protecting the community at about any cost given what I'm reading but when I read these guidelines CDC and others put out they seem like fine activities

- run outside / go for a walk / etc
- pick up food at a go to place
- meet up with same group of 4 friends at their house

That's it.  Those 3 things.

I've already cut out for sure over the next two weeks and probably longer
- seeing parents (unless I have to go deliver them some Busch Light or food but even then probably just leave it on their porch)
- Seeing nieces/nephews or anybody that has to go save people's lives like doctors/firemen/etc.
- Stepping foot to eat in a restaurant/bar
- Movies/public gatherings.
- Ordering groceries online for delivery

just curious, why did you cut out ordering groceries online? to free up that capacity for others who need it more?

I misclassified that.  I started ordering online vs. going in.

Other two I'm pretty low on the jerk index?  Yeah that 4 friends was risky I knew but if they stayed pretty insulated and I know I am I thought maybe it would be not horrible.

other two are totally fine. you'd be at less risk if you could get it delivered which I think a lot of restaurants will be offering for free very soon. I've seen quite a few sit down places basically convert servers to delivery drivers here.

Social distancing good washing hands good general hygiene good. But this virus has a lot and I mean a lot of heavy lifting and catching up to do to reach its eleven status on the amplifier.

recommendation i saw was that you should wait about 10 days after isolating and then you could socialize with other people that have also been isolating for 10 days+

obviously, you can do whatever and socializing in small groups isn't terribly risky and also (and more importantly) it is easy to trace who has been exposed if any of you do turn up sick.

my guess is that we've probably already reduced transmission to below 1.0.  if we assume that happened friday, we've got 12 more days of apparent growth in number infected, and then numbers will begin receding.

the most pressing need to restart some semblance of normal life and normal economic activity is accurate, mass scale testing.
