Oh man, great thread, friend.

I haven't had a solid 5 hour sleep in one night. Working from home while your wife is on paternity leave with the lil one feels like you're working in your own casket.  :D

I got this ab ball for my birthday, but god had other plans for it. It's the only thing that puts Breck to sleep. We just bounce away on that bad boy at night.

My number one reservation about having kids was changing diapers and I got over that really quickly.

Our house has been revolving door of people. I knew women love babies, but it's the older women who are like almost upset that their kids are grown up now, that always want to be around him. Gets kinda annoying, but if they wanna hold him, go for it. Just wish I had them at 3:13 AM.

Sometimes I fake sleeping at night so Mrs wacky will take an extra turn to calm the crying baby. I know it's a shitty thing to do, but she's off till December and I need the sleep to work.

pretty sure mrs wacky isn't on paternity leave there bud  :gocho:

good thing about the lack of sleep you're experiencing, after awhile your body becomes used to only requiring a little sleep to function.  i really only need 5 hours of sleep to be functional at work, but usually get a decent 7 most nights now.  sucky part is i can never sleep in even if given the chance, but whatever.

how are your weekends?

 Nice catch. Weekends are fun. We rotate during the day naps with the little one. I'm usually good about functioning with lack of sleep, but just not use to it consistently for like weeks in a row. Lil Wacky is getting baptized in the catholic church (not happy about it) and we had to go to a class for it last Wednesday. I think that's when I was like "Wow, i'm really at a 2 hour class to learn how to stand there and let my kid get water poured on his head, I must officially be a dad now" for the first time. It was nonsense.

There will be a ton of nonsense to go through over the next 20+ years. Things like getting sick of being at the ball field all summer...then one day he decides to not play anymore. But then you're the one who misses it! Enjoy it because it goes by quickly.

lol, not yet. I had to google what this was. Mrs. Wacky has some sleeve for him that she wears sometimes. The last few nights he was getting up every hour and crying in the crib, so Mrs Wacky has been letting him sleep on her in the bed. I'm pretty sure there are several mommy blogs out there that would frown upon this, but it's been working. Can we go to jail for this?

I don't think you can go to actual jail but you will absolutely go to mommy blog/social media jail if you post stuff like this to the outside world because there will always be idiots telling you that you're doing the most mundane activity wrong and you'll get parent shamed into oblivion.

In fact I think you should start your own daddy blog so we can see how people react!  Have it bombarded with popup ads so it's really just a shameless cash grab for a college fund.

It probably will get you on the wrong side of the mommy bloggers but after we struggled thru the first 3 months of our oldest never sleeping more than about 90 minutes at a time until the Pediatrician gave us the okay to let her sleep in one of these[img]https://www.cpsc.gov/s3fs-public/styles/thumbnail/public/Recall.2016.16143.FPCHM84PR2Z.jpg?itok=vWj1Gdo3/[img]

The next few months went much better with 3 to 4 hour stretches of sleep other than spending $20 a month on D cell batteries.  Now one of the auto completes on Google is "recall" when I type in baby papasan swing

 Yeah, we have one of those and we heard about the recall. We have all kinds of crazy hand me downs from friends and family that we try out here and there. We have a swing thing that he likes from time to time that sways back and forth. Problem is, he just wants to be held most of the time and i'm afraid that will get us in trouble in the long run.

Hold the kid if it wants to be held.  The only people who think that's wrong are emotionally empty souls who can't form an attachment to their kids.

yeah this isn't the 1700's, you don't need to toughen the kid up so its ready when it's mom dies at age 25 or to fight the Pawnee.

Random question from a kidless blogger.

If the baby is waking up in the middle of the night and crying, why cant you just ignore them until it goes back to sleep?

Like I get you may have to feed it or change its diaper in the middle of the night but if you just did that and its still crying why cant you just go back to sleep and let them cry?

That’s a good question. However, they either need fed or their diaper changed 90% of the time and leaving a crying baby in their crib is pointless for many reasons. 1. You won’t be able to sleep anyways. 2. I’d feel like a gigantic POS if I did so. 3. It could be a tummy issue thing and as a parent I want to be there to comfort them.

Speaking of PAK’ing hard, I’ve agreed to not have hard liquor in this house since he was born. I also haven’t had a heater since then as well. I sneak a black and mild here and there from time to time. Working on being less of a shitty drunk/chain smoker on the weekends. We do wine and craft beers in this house now.

In all honesty, I don’t know how I could deliver on the concept. I’m already in a twirl IRL right now. I fly out at 5 AM on Monday to my corporate spot for 3 days to discuss what I already do well and how I can enhance my skills. That’s a vacation for me. 72 hours away in Ann arbor

420seriouscat69,

If you just published your non-pit stuff and marketed it to the open internet. My goodness, you could be a star.  You could actually monetize what you already do.  gE is just a blog, displaying you to the open internet would be incred.
