I must be a giant dumbass too because I don’t get what you are calling him a dumbass for in this instance

I'm assuming because tunnels in Miami would be in the ocean.

Maybe he plans to use submarines in the tunnels.

LoL. You can't even have a basement there because of the water table. Now imagine miles of tunnels.

That, and the fact just because you put traffic underground doesn't inherently solve the "problem". Yes, using electric would help (a lot) but he doesn't really reference it like that.

Also, yes, big sump pump must be in on this.

Also worth noting that tunnels don't limit emissions, the tunnels don't eat the discharge.

Sometimes they do, I think.

Doesn't his tunnel idea involve some type of vacuum?  Similar to the tubes at a bank drive thru.

My experience in cities that have extensive tunnels systems, NYC & Boston, you're just sitting in traffic in the tunnels.

1. you can have tunnels underwater. there are crap loads everywhere.
2. tunnels will absolutely not solve congestion.

I think the test for this thing is like a 20 mile section from Elon's house to his office so he doesn't have to sit in traffic. I can see how if that's your entire experience that tunnels seem pretty dope.

*memory may be off here,
** lol it's 2 miles not 20

They aren't road tunnels. Basically drive your car onto a sled that moves via electromagnetism. It's supposed to be an automated system

There's a road tunnel that gets you through/past downtown Seattle, but it's tolled and it seems like they've got it at about the right amount that it doesn't get congested.  That said, I'm never driving at rush hour times so maybe it gets jammed up then too.

And there's def underwater tunnels, but I don't like to think about that as I'm nonchalantly driving through them.  What a way to die.  :Yuck:

Also, the coral bedrock that FL sits on is crazy hard. It would chew up those boring drills so quick.

So rough ridin' expensive though. Knowing how expensive and time consuming Boston's Big Dig was I can't even fathom how much and how long his project would cost the city of Miami.

Didn't realize Elon was doing well again. For some reason i thought he wasn't in good financial shape recently with Tesla having issues. Maybe i'm way off.
