Paying to fly somewhere that you then have to drive 4 hrs to get where you actually want to go is a horrible idea unless you are visiting a remote island, a remote mountain location, or a developing country.

I drove the 4hr drive from Vegas to Phoenix, and then back to Vegas for the Fiesta Bowl.  It's not very fun outside of stopping to stare at the Hoover Dam for a couple minutes.

It's only a 2-hour drive from Manhattan to a couple places with direct flights to Vegas.

i'm not 100% sure you've ever driven between phoenix and las vegas

Looks like you have to buy a separate ticket for that flight from phoenix to vegas or wherever stormnut's looking at driving to, at least on the allegiant website.

Some pud Allegiant analyst was putting together reports for new routes in Feb.  Saw all the MHK to PHX traffic, didn't realize the bowl game, and here we are.

Either that or they just assume that we will be going to the Fiesta Bowl/CFB playoffs on the regular.  Factor that in with a BWW bowl appearance for KU once every 15 years and a new route is born.

i mean it really just makes no sense for anybody. hey we've got a town with a crap load of college students and young military people. where would they want to go? just where. would. they. want. to. go? vegas? nope. let's offer up the retirement capital of the world. good ol' phoenix. just an all around wtf. also, allegiant doesn't do connections and stuff and they aren't even flying into phx they are flying into aza. this will fail.

Yeah. This thing isn't going to last more than about 7 months. Just the biggest  I could think of. Enjoy paying $4 on the plane to get some pretzels, chumps.

sadly for smaller airports...its the only option besides maybe frontier.
