1136 feet above sea level-will trigger emergency release, that’s just their way of saying it will crest the emergency gates without saying it will crest the emergency gates. Right now it’s only rising an inch or less per day 1123.72 today. Hope we miss big rain events this weekend but it looks like we won’t?

Evacuation advisories have been sent out to some residents not mandatory but planning ahead. I’ll post lake levels tomorrow. The interesting thing with the latest round of heavy rains the inflow gauges for Tuttlecreek are inoperable under water? So they don’t know what is actually incoming.

The army core of engineers should have done something in light of all this rain that has been forecast and we have been getting...

sd grandfather was a lifelong gov. attorney and worked on that original dam project for the corp of eng. Said they’d get threatened by the hicks all the time. they were told not to tell anyone in town who they were or what they were doing. he’s from upstate NY but remembered staying at the Warhem hotel or whatever when they were working on it.

Well officially now single digits till emergency gates are opened and no inflow measures probably about five days out before it gets unleashed.

there should be a 60 minute warning prior to busting it open so everyone can get to a 4 and get on their tubes in front of the outflow deal.

Bonus coverage from ear witness news. Had a meeting in Kc today so on way back I stopped  over at the lake and took these pictures on way home. Water is coming through gates can see wet concrete but there are some pretty good streams running down spillway hard to see on pictures but it’s getting close.

Call KRock and request “when the levee breaks” every 10 minutes.

So I haven't been back to Tuttle in years. That pic of the spillway with all the grass below it: When and how did they fill all that in? I remember when they let out all that water in the 90's that area had huge areas cut into it from the huge amounts of water flow. We used to go down there with mountain bikes or just "hike" cause it was such a foreign landscape. Like a miniature version of the grand canyon. looks like a golf course in that picture.

This is all I could find taq, I think they backfilled it all like in 2003 but I’m not sure as I was still exiled in Minnesota then. There is nice park down there for riding now but that will get blown out when they release

idea:  picture in your mind's eye, a net that spans the opening of each tube.  the net is very strong.  could be made with carbon fiber which is the strongest material known to mankind.    cover each tube with the carbon fiber net.  open flood tube.  exotic fish get caught in the nets.  open a seafood restaurant.  cook the fish and serve them to hungry customers.  profit.  move to madagascar and study malaria resistant natives.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Too late Little Grill has this all sewn up Jamaican cuisine. Only exotic would be Zebra Mussels not to palatable. But the saugeye now there is something to look at. Would zebra mussels be a relative to the Piss clam?...

Current lake level as of 8:00 am today 1131.73 for all intents four feet below emergency release. river pond and Rocky Ford closures tonight at 8:00 pm rains Friday Saturday and expected today will force the Corps hand here probably in next three days as the estimated in flow is 54,200 this was all on the corps Facebook page.

Let’s hope loss and damage are limited !!! If you can by all means witness the outflow if you can it’s something to see and I have been lucky enough unless I get trucked before they let this go, too have witnessed it twice!
